Lock/unlock pushbutton is sunk back into the door panel

Was told at the dealer that the Bezel ? was broke on one side. Quoted a price of $150 to repair. I think I could replace it myself if I could figure out how to get the door panel off to replace it. This is a 1997 Buick Park Avenue Ultra

Above the door handle you have the part you pul the door closed with, if you look to the bottom of it you will see a long piece of plastic, you need to lift this out , under that are two screws, take them out, then look for the little lite located close to the edge of the door, this light will just pop out, behind it you will find another screw, remove it, now look in the round heater hole located towards the top inner part of the door pannel and you will find a little plastic plug, with long nose plyers gently grab it and pull it out.you will have to remove the plastic molding around the handle, just use a flat head screw driver and pop it out
Now all you have to do is grab hold of the whole door panel and lift and wiggle it up, it is held in place by plastic hooks, don't worry to much as they are pretty sterdy, you must becareful not to move the panel to far away at first cause there are plugs you will need to undo, it is all really very simple if you take your time.
All the door panels come off the same way. good luck and have fun, I have had the same broken button and many other things, just today I had all the plastic trim around the floor and roof off and the whole head liner out to repair my sunroof moter.

My passenger door was opened while the lock was still down. Normally the lock pops up and the door opens but something snapped inside and now even when I lock it it can still be opened. Any ideas what

Not sure what broke but if you take your door panel off you will be able to see what broke and repair it yourself. Pretty simple mechanism and it will not cost you 500 to fix it yourself. A parts store will steer you in the right direction and sell you the parts. Should not be over 150 dollars to fix.

The rear drivers side door lock will not work with the remote nor the lock button. Is shutters everytime you lock or unlock. I am thinking the actuator is bad. I have seen a few posts of the relays but IDK...

It's the actuator. The upper bezel pulls straight out. Be gentle, but be firm. The door handle bezel has a screw, remove that, then pull the door panel straight away. Again, be gentle, but firm.

2008 chevrolet malibu door lock problem

My girlfriend has a 2008 Malibu. The door locks began to falter one by one until three of the locks had to be operated manually or by using a key. I checked the fuses, the BCM and the lubrication on the locks. The door lock actuators were the real problem. She was quoted about $1000 to fix the problem and replace all three of the bad actuator/ door lock assemblies through the dealer. I called and got a price of $125 for the front door and $105 for each of the back doors from the dealer. I was able to fix all three door locks in about three hours myself. It took a few star end bits, a 10 mm socket and a regular phillips screwdriver to get the job done. It has been two weeks now and she is ecstatic that the problem has been fixed and she saved about $750. This seems to be a common problem with this car, when ordering make sure you have the VIN number of the car you are working on to ensure you get the right part. Depending on the year of the vehicle there was a production date split for these parts.

Front Door Handle/Bezel Replacement for LH

1. Remove the front door trim panel using the procedures outlined in Section 23 of the appropriate service manual.

2. Place door trim panel on a clean work surface. Drill the mounting bosses' heat stakes, which attach the existing door handle/bezel to the panel, with a 21/64-drill bit. Take extra care to only drill in the center of each heat stake.

3. Remove existing handle/bezel from trim panel.

4. Clean the back of the trim panel of plastic fillings.

5. Seat the new handle/bezel into location.

6. Place the push nuts onto the handle/bezel bosses.

7. Use a 10 mm socket to install the push nuts all the way down on the mounting bosses to secure the handle/bezel onto the door trim panel. Using a wiggling side-to-side motion may be helpful.

8. Install the lock switch from the original handle/bezel to the new door handle/bezel.

9. Reinstall the door trim panel using the procedures outlined in Section 23 of the appropriate service manual.

Hope this helps.

Air Conditioning Dual Temperature will not adjust

The dual mode blend air door has a broken pivot on the passenger door. There is a revised part available through Chrysler. A couple things to know, Your entire instrument panel will be either removed or rolled back into the seat to gain access to the heater housing which is where the blend door lives. If your dealer says $150 to open the dash, you need a different dealer. He either isn't aware of the on going problem with the WJ's or doesn't have a qualified Jeep tech to work on it. This job usually is about 5 hours or so and will cost closer $750. It can be done in your driveway if you're patient and have plenty of time.
