You have an air leak in your coolant pipes under the dash.
There is air in the system.
When the engine is off the coolant is dripping onto the carpet.

I hope I have helped you a little.
Some of the engines are well known for this problem.
My friend David had the same vehicle as yours and got so fed up with it, he sold it because he spent heaps of money on the same problems which you have. He actually went through three sets of head gaskets and a huge garage bill.
    Kind regards,

Just remember, you aren`t the only one with this problem.
Whatever you decide to do with the vehicle: Good Luck.
Sorry I can`t be of much more help to you.
I wish you all the best luck in the future.

I have a 2003 olds mobile Alero, it began to over heat riding around the city so I replaced both the thermostat & water pump but the car still over heats. What else could be wrong?

most likely air in the colant system, an air bubble trapped when water pump was replaced. An eazy way to tell if air is in the coolant system squeze the upper radiator hose, if seems empty or can hear coolant swishing around, then there is air in the coolant system and also coolant level not compmetely topped off.

Top off coolant with Antifreeze Concentrate, NOT WATER. water will boil and evaporate, 50/50 antifreeze mix is good but if you dont know how much water has allready been added to the coolant system then straight shots of Antifreeze is recommended when toppong off coolant level.

Remove Air and Top Off Coolant

ā€¢While Engine is cool
ā€¢Remove radiator cap
ā€¢Slowly fill to the rim with Antifreeze, while at the same time squeezing the upper radiator hose to swoosh around coolant, try to get as full as you can.
ā€¢Replace Radiator Cap
ā€¢Start engine and switch air fan on high
ā€¢Remove radiator cap
ā€¢Squeez upper radiator hose and add more Antifreeze as Nessesary
ā€¢Notice preasure on the coolant hose, while adding antifreeze Concentrate preasure on the hose will stiffin up,
When coolant is full turn off the motor.

Hi i have a plymouth scamp 1972 slant 6 thats overheating replace the water pump ,thermostat radiator cap ,radiator no oil in coolant or coolant in oil or exhaust fumes in radiator.i got alittel rust out...

Chances are you have a pinhole leak at the headgasket. This may not be enough while the car is idling to smell, especially being carburated. The other possibility is that you're running WAY lean. (Too much fuel) through the carb. Headgasket is more likely. O

I hear a swooshing sound from under my dashboard when I stop and go

Vacuum leak, inspect all vacuum hoses behind your dash, this will require some partial removal of your dashboad.

Hearing water behind dashboard

This could be a simple air pocket. Run vehicle with radiator cap off. You will see air bubbles come up. Usually the fan will cycle on and off 3 times and both upper and lower radiator hoses hot. Remember to turn off all heat ac and defrost as this can prematurely cycle cooling fans. This will get all air out. This is also the way to do it anytime coolant is needed and or cooling repairs are done.

I have a red warning light on the dash of my landrover disc.

It's the low coolant light. Just find the overflow bottle ( it'll be marked coolant). If it's not low then the sensor that goes to the bottle is bad and may need replacing.

1999 Buick Regal has two distinct problems. 1.

Sounds like you have a blown headgasket, check the coolant in the radiator and if you find oil in it you do need a headgasket.

Having problems with the low coolant display on dashboard

Well if your lucky your heater core is leaking and I believe it would be leaking under the dashboard on the passenger side, feel the floor and see if it's wet. If that's not the problem than you may have a blown headgasket. One way you can check that is to look at your oil, if it has a little bit of a yellowish milky type color in it, it's your headgasket. If it's a small leak and it hasn't put enough into the oil yet you may to need have the cylinders pressure tested to check it. Good luck!
