Won't start,has spark, has fuel

Recently replaced the fuel rail, fuel pump and fuel filter. Has injector pulse, has spark. Has fuel in the rail, but fuel pressure guage is reading zero

  • Anonymous Dec 12, 2012

Also, all injectors are working. Lifted fuel rail from the intake and can see all injectors firing while cranking. All fuses and relays have been tested and working.

  • Anonymous Dec 12, 2012

Just an update. It was the fuel pressure regulator. When we changed the fuel rail, the new one was an updated design. The new design also requires an update on the regulator we did not know about. It was allowing all the fuel pressure to by pass and return straight back to the fuel tank.

Are you sure the injectors are spraying if the pressure is zero ?
Have you checked the fuel pressure regulator ?
Are the spark plugs dry ?

  • Anonymous Dec 12, 2012

Yes, the injectors are spraying. Hal the plugs are getting fuel fouled and half are getting fuel starved. Trying to find a regulator at the parts store, but just hoping or some different things to check that we haven't already thought about. The regulator is the obvious thing, but this whole car is a basket case nightmare!

SOURCE: Hello my 1991 cadillac deville won't go over

As per the problem, which you mentioned it indicates problem with fuel pump, the fuel pump is not holding the pressure. To pump gas from fuel tank to the engine there should be pressure. But if fuel pump is worn out, then this pressure will be low or in some cases there is no pressure at all.Replacing the fuel pump should help.----------- ----------------- But there few more possibilities for this problem too, other that fuel pump and fuel filter, it can be problem with sensors, the o2 sensor.Clogged catalytic converter, problem in transmission assembly.Transmission fluid very dirty or very low transmission fluid. Also get this checked and see.To check if catalytic converter is the issue, you can try this.Remove the o2 sensor , unplug the o2 sensor then rev the engine and see.If it goes up to 2000 to 3000 RPM then its catalytic converter issue. But if same problem like before is there, then get the fuel pump replaced, get the fuel pressure checked. It can be checked at any local garage. If the fuel pressure is checked fine then in that case get other possibilities related to transmission checked.----------------- This should help.Thanks.Helpmech.

SOURCE: 1990 deville, replaced ecm, fuel pump, filters,

I had same problem in my 90 deville. Drove myself crazy, I replaced the sending unit in the tank with a new fuel pump. I also had to replace the fuel pressure regulator, which sits behind the rail system. It worked for me.

SOURCE: Got fire, fuel pump and pressure good, but no

check fuses and relays, might have to check wire harness for injectors, you may have a break in the wire and have to reconnect it. check for voltage at injectors one at a time see if its all or one

Hi,

I would check n replace the fuel filter if needed. Also, it could be one of the spark plugs. Was it running before? Can you think of anything that happened or changed recently?

Installed new fuel pump and cleaned all 6 fuel injectors but it won't start

Have you checked fuel pressure at the rail with a gauge yet ?
Are you getting spark to the plugs ? Have you tried spraying starting fluid into the intake to make sure it is a fuel problem ?

I have a 95 oldsmobile 3.1 v6 that i just replaced fuel filter and pump but now wont start its getting fuel at the rail bleader

Was it dead before you replaced the pump? If so then check for spark. Just because the pump is new and you are getting fuel to the rail doesn't mean it's at the correct pressure. Check the pressure and also check for injector pulse at the injector harness connector. You can do this with a "noid light" (Harbour Frieght under $10). Let me know what you find.

The dash gauges all work , fuel pumps are both good , the fuel pumps wont come on and the truck trys to fire when i turn the ignition on but wont , could this be a fuel regulator

did you check the fuel pressure pump on the frame rail for power and ground? have you verified no ignition spark to the spark plugs? have you checked for fire from the coil to the distributor cap? does the check engine light come on when you turn the key on? have you check for injector pulse and power at the fuel injectors? if the fuel pump won't come on and you have no ignition fire and no injector pulse, all of these systems are triggered by the ECM.

My 2001 Saturn, will start but not stay running. We have checked the fuel pump and all fluids. Did a compression check this morning, fuel injectors are not injecting fuel into fuel rail. Why is engine...

You said, 'fuel injectors are not injecting fuel into fuel rail' but it's my understanding that the fuel rail gasoline is supplied by the pump, and the fuel injectors just pulse to allow fuel to get to the cylinders. I would check out the fuel delivery problem further. Check for pressure in the fuel rail that is within specs.

If not, then the pump or fuel pressure regulator may be the problem. Check the fuse for the fuel pump. If good, then the pump may be bad in the tank.

Good luck on this.

Test: car won't start

does it crank but not start or does it just click like dead battery or starter if it cranks check for spark and fuel pull spark plug wire and insert a screw driver and hold it close to an engine ground and have someone try to crank the engine is there a strong spark and use what is called a noid light it plugs into the plug for the injectors to see if the injectors are pulsing it should blink when you try too too start the engine if you have pulse and spark check for fuel pressure there should be a service port on the fuel rail that looks like a valve stem for a tire sort of youll need a fuel pressure tester if you had no spark or pulse at tthe injectors its most likely either the cam sensor crank sensor or the computor(pcm) if only no spark change the coil if that doesnt work you might need an ignition module but that requires more testing I cant explain here see a technician if no fuel pressure remove fuel filter drain and attemp to blow air through it if you cant its clogged replace and try vehicle if no start still feul pump is bad replace pump .

hope this helped
