The check engine light turns on in vehicles for multiple reasons. It might not be your carburetor that has the problem. It also might be a chip error and just needs to be reset by an auto maintenance place.

Hi Shane,I have a 85 Nissan 720 4x4 with the 2.4 engine, had her for 22 years, our trucks have bad carburators, when I bought mine used,it had 108,000 miles on it and my carb started giving me problems, with the ideling, took it and had it rebuilt by 3 different carb shops at 200 a whop,no one could get it right,so I took it to the Nissan Dealer, they told me that they couldn't rebuilt it cause the bottom part is not assible, and told me that they were a bad design,so I did some research and found out about Weber carburators,so I bought one from redline, they cost 269.00 with kit,it's been on my 720 for 6 years now, plus I got a new remanufactured engine from Jasper engines and had a jasper installer put in in at the same time I put the new weber in.I spent a fortune trying to get the stock carb. right.I have 328,000 miles on the truck and it runs perfect.I plan on keeping my truck forever and that's the reason I put alot of money in it,A couple of months ago I redid the interior,it is now gray, was black,I live in Georgia and it is hot. Here's a video of mt Weber conversion,I have more pics and videos in you would like to see.My phone number is 706-580-6110 and my name is Tommy.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5Fe9N0q2Kk
intake manifold to leak coolant are common, but a good quality gasket fixes that. (fel-pro or dealer) If steering racks leak, they are CHEAP/JUNK maybe A1 CARDONE? . put in a good one. http://jorgenauto.com/
first off, a tank of gas won't turn off the check engine light. But, I wold have someone check the problem using a OBD-II diagnostic tool. It will give you the error code that is causing the light to turn on, and that code will be directly linked to a specific problem. The OBD database which you can find online, will tell you the most likely causes and possible solutions. you can do this all by yourself by renting the OBD-II device at autozone, or by a mechanic or dealer. If the car is still under warranty, bring it to the dealer to check it out, and don't take "oh it's nothing, don't worry" for an answer. Dealers routinely do this until the warranty is up and charge you and arm and a leg for certified service. Make sure they do it right the first time.
is your engine size 1.8 or 2.0 or vr6 1.8 not so hard to change 2.0 more diffcult 2 years ago dealer wanted 300 dollars to change 2.0 find out what size engine you have and tell me remember dealers prices are always more expensive then regular mechanics
the most common is a bad cluster
you have to remove it
that could be a pain but it can be done
after removing the cluster remove the cardboard cover in the back remove
circuit panel board and check in the middle for a broken weld here your question for your insterment panel
The Transmission Control Module (TCM) is not communicaring with the PCM.
Check all fuses. It could be a power or ground problem or a ccd bus communication wiring problem.
If not it's likely an internal failure in the TCM.
You may be able to get a schamatic at your local library.
If it's not a power, ground or wiring issue you should take it to a dealer with a DRB III to confirm the diagnosis.
Best of Luck!

Check engine light comes on because engine computer has detected a fault. It could be anything, from a cheap sensor to an important component out of specifications, to a service reminder. Most shops (not necessarily Honda dealers, ) have the diagnostic equipment to hook it up to your car and tell you what is wrong, before fixing anything. Usual rates for this diagnostic is below $100, including quote for repair.
On some vehicles not all.. There is a second c.s.s. Have they checked both? If they put in new one it should run no problem.. Dont know why it wouldnt. Have replaced many, and never had a problem with a vehicle not starting or running.
could be the type of plug you are using.I was told only to use ngk plugs.I recently put bosch plugs in my mazda 3 and the check engine light came on and it started missfiring.
