To replace fuel pump,the assembly has to be removed out,also its advisable to replace fuel filter while replacing fuel pump,if it as not replaced before.

A few things that can be done is to do a full tune up: Plugs, wires cap, rotor, air filter and oil change. That will help. Also replacing or cleaning sensors like the Throttle position valve, Air intake valve, Air Temperature sensor and O2 sensors will greatly improve economy. Those sensors help to determine the proper air/ fuel ratio. if the mix is too lean or rich you will burn through gas. These relatively cheap repairs will definately help. i did all this to my 99' ram 4x4 last week and increased MPG from 9.8 to 13.4 mpg.

You should be getting close to 360-390...depending on the type of driving you are doing. change your spark plugs if they haven't been changed in awhile. check your tires for the propper psi there should be a sticker on the inside of your drivers door that will tell you recomended air pressures go by this not the recomendations on the tires. also where are you getting you gas does it contain ethanol sometimes this can burn faster.
