Why does the dome light in my 2006 Kia Rio stay on after turning the engine off and locking the doors?

My dome light it switched to the door option, but today when I went out to the car several hours after using it, the dome light was on. The doors were all closed tight and it was set to the correct position, but I had to switch it to the off position so it would stay off. What would cause this problem?

The body control module controls the door functions, have this checked.

Any of the door switch is shorting.Its working, but its shorting .So the circuit is not getting completed.And the dome light remains ON. Spray WD-40 into the switch inside the door jam.Let it remain for few minutes.Then close open all doors one by one few times then check. But if that is not helping, then its a switch problem.The push control switch marked "door" on the dome light could be bad.It has to be checked and replaced.-------- This should help.Keep updated.Thanks.Helpmech.

2008 kia rio dome light doesnt work when door is open but works manually

You didn't mention if one door or all doors.
If only one door then most likely that door switch.
if none of the doors will make it come on, the see if you have a dome light control as my Kia can be set for all from switch near mirror.
Not thinking a fuse since it will turn on manually.

What would cause the doom light fuse on my 2006 Kia Rio to keep blowing?

It is because there is a hard short to ground. It is either the wires have a short leading to the dome light, the dome light itself has a short, or the switch that turns the domelight on has a short. I would suspect either a bad switch or bad domelight if you have not messed with any wiring.

My dome light will not go out.

Check the light switch if it's off position for dome light. Or check your door switch if is making contact with door panel. If all of this are good. You have an bad door switch.

Replace the dimmer control. The door lock switch needs to be inspected. Repair may be possible.

Power door lock switch on drivers door does not unlock doors when ignition off noir dors dome light come on. If key turned on power door switch works and also dome light.

The body control module controls the door functions, have this checked.

How do I get the inside door panel off of a Kia Rio 2006 drivers side door

REMOVE ALL SCREW AROUND PANEL DONT FOEGET THE ONES THAT HOLD THE ARMREST, THEN PULL ON THE PANEL ITS HELD ON BY CLIPS, THEN UNPLUG ALL SWITCHES.

Dome lights won't turn off

Been having a problem with the dome lights on a 99 chevy blazer. Still can't figure out what the problem is. There is a dome light overide button located under the dimmer wheel. When I push the overide button in the dome light goes off, but when I open any of the doors the dome light will not come on. When the overide button is out the dome light stays on all the time and will not turn off even though every door is closed. I checked all the pushbuttons and everything tests good. Has anyone had this problem and know how to fix it?

Interior dome light stays on when driving.

Sounds like the dome light has been turned on using the switch on the dash. Most of the time the dash dimmer switch is set up so that if the dimmer is in the maximum position, the dome light can be turned on. If the dome light has been turned on like this, it still will turn off after some time to save your battery. Then when you unlock the door with the remote, it goes back to the same state it was when it was left in - "ON". Check for this switch on the dash, and roll it to get it off of the "ON" position.
