Hello Hyde Gillen,

What you don't know...

There are DIFFERENT types (other than vacuum )
of BRAKE BOOSTERS...
More Information for ACDELCO 1780683

YOURS is HYDRAULIC assisted... meaning... when
your HYDRAULIC pump fails... (not power steering)
EXACTLY like AIR-BRAKES... (Compressor fail)...

The BRAKES get applied...!!

>> AS designed...!! <<

You CANNOT let your HYDRAULIC systems fail...

You cannot even steer your vehicle...
(don't worry about yourself)... TRY WORRING about
the OTHERS innocents you are putting in DANGER.

I think you are on the RIGHT TRACK...
truck is fine... YOU just need to expand your
understanding of AUTOMOTIVE mechanics.

Good work... KEEP STUDYING.

This sounds like a vacuum, or fuse problem. Also check your ground and battery connections.

the power brakes are a hydrolic system ran off of the power steering pump. therefore if you have a busted power steering hose the power brakes will not work.

SOURCE: replaced front brake pads they

on the back side of the bearing, near the break line is a little fitting. i think it is 5/16 in socket. loosen it, so the air comes. then try to hand spin the tire. if this doesnt work then you have to go into the hole located on the same side, about hte size of a peanut, with a screwdriver, and if you can see in there, there is a littel gear that has to be spun. it will loosen the back brakes.

SOURCE: 02 silverado 2500 duramax- loss of power steering/brakes

I know GM decided to run the brakes and power steering vacumm all off of the power steering pump on some of their trucks. This could really be a big problem because if your power steering quit it would stop supplying your brakes with vacuum to stop the truck. In my experience I would check out the situation with the steering pump. Change it for a new one. Don't take any chances on smashing your truck.

SOURCE: leaking brake fluid hose/system

Replace the leaking line, then bleed the system of all the air in the lines. Start at the furthest point from the reservoir. Until there is no air bubbles in the system.

What is causing both front brakes to lock up

check master cylinder not releasing the brakes. the brake flex hose for each wheel may have collapsed internally. the way to find out is when the brakes don`t release loosen the bleeder screw on the brake caliper if brake fluid squirts out or runs out and the brakes release then the flex hose has collapsed. if the brakes don`t release and no fluid squirts out then the calipers are seized and need replacing. the shuddering is an indication the brake rotors are probably warped and need replacing.

WHY DO BRAKES GRAB BUT MOT RELEASE ALL THE WAY ON 2004 NISSAN TITAN

Which wheel(s) are not releasing? Could be debris in the wheel cylinder(s) partially blocking the return fluid (drum brakes) or a defective wheel cylinder or cylinders or even defective calipers (disc brakes).

My mazda is set on the sign of the steering wheel with the! Q IS LIKE TO KNOW PLEASE HELP ME

Power stearing rx 8 2004 You need cleaning the two gray plugs below canister air filter. One plug have 2 power cables and other plug have four or five cable. You need electric contact cleaner and cleaning both plug terminal pins Verify the contact must be very clean. The more important is the hose for drainage from the coolant bottle. This is the principal cause of throuble. This is a short hose for drainage. When the car is hot, the hose drainage vapor and drops coolant. This vapor and coolant impact the gray plug and the cable is hot. This causes shutdown of the power steering. change the hose to a longer one so it wont drop fluid on to electrical harness. For finish remove the negative battery cable for reset the electrical system. cleaning the main fuse of power stearing on positive pole of battery. Check the contact this needs to be very clean. check the pole of battery. cleaning both poles if necessary change battery connection. Hope this resolves the problem if not please take it to a qualified technician as you dont want to mess around with steering or brakes for that matter.

2005 chevy duramax 4x4 brake pedal goes all the way to the floor, ABS light on

You need to add BRAKE fluid. After that, blead your brakes. You need to find out where the brake fluid went. If there are no leaks, you need to check the remaining life on all four brake sets. If you have no leaks, chances are pretty good that you need new brakes.

My car is making whinning high pitch sounds when im driving then it will stop and eventually come back, is it the power stearing pump or the power stearing hose leaking

You most likely have a leak. You shouldn't ever have to add power steering fluid. It is best to get it checked out and repaired while the leak is small. If you wait, the leak will get worse and the oil gets dumped on hoses, belts, wiring harnesses, computer sensors, etc. and can cause severe damage to all of these items, as well as rubber engine mounts and suspension parts. To properly maintain your vehicle, NO fluid leak should EVER be "tolerated". Fluid leaks (of all types) are the leading cause of sending cars to the scrap yard way before their time.

2004 ford f150 4 wheel drive doesnt work

If your truck has Vacume actuated hubs check the vacume lines running to the hubs right behind the brake rotor. If it has the electronic actuated hubs, check connectors / and or replace actuator motor on the front diff. Also possible Transfer case motor seized if you have push button 4x4

My power steering and brakes went out last night; what would cause both those to got out at the same time? There was a puddle of red fluid on the ground. A hose maybe? hopefully?

Yes could be a hose to your power steering or a leak some where's. your brake work off of your power steering pump because your truck has a hydraboost and not a brake booster that work's off of vacum, so if it's low on power steering fluid the brakes will not work, to check add fluid to the pump and have some one turn the wheel all the way and hold while you check for leak's, hope this was very helpful, good luck

Front passenger brake locked up causing the stearing wheel to shake and a lot of heat and smoke from brakes. Have new brake pads and new master cylinder. Friend looked at brakes and could not find anything...

What happens is the caliper pistons seize. you could rebuild them, but much better to buy new or rebuilt ones.
Replace the flexible hoses at the same time, sometimes they deteriorate on the INSIDE and cause similar issue.

If you have pullsation, after all of this, I would expect that your rotors have suffered heat damage. They would need to be turned or replaced. DO not put up with pullsation.

ALSO, you do "wheel sets" do not replace JUST one side. The safety rule is always do the same to BOTH sides, when you do brakes.

I have a 2001 F 350 ford diesel . Started it up ,no brakes, no power stearing. Fluid on the ground, both pneumatic lines to brakes blown off. leaking fluid out of the power stearing line, blew connecting...

the hyrdra boost supplies pressure to these systems, that is done throught the power steering pump, the line or the pump is defective, I would replace both.
