When the ABS light stays on it means the control module has detected a fault in the ABS system, the light is turned on to alert you and the ABS system is turned off, so right now you have plain old brakes, no ABS. You must have the ABS code read and then diagnosed for the defective part that is causing this light.
The service engine light does not affect the abs.You most likely have a broken wire in your abs system which is affected by suspension movement.A code reader which does abs codes will tell you which wheel circuit is turning on the abs light.When there is no abs available the track will turn off.
Whenever the ABS module turns on the ABS light in the dash it is to alert you to the fact that a fault has occurred in the ABS system and the control module has turned off the ABS brake control, you now have regular non ABS brakes. The waring light will stay on until the fault is corrected. Since a large number of problems would cause this you must get the control module scanned to retrieve the fault code that was set in the control modules memory when it turned on the light. You most likely have a problem with the ABS brake system. First, check your brake fluid level as many vehicles have a fluid level switch that monitors brake fluid level and if the level is low it can turn off the ABS and turn on all those lights.[ABS is part of the Trac control] If that is good then you may have a failing wheel speed sensor, wiring, or a problem with the ABS controller itself which would require having someone connecting to and reading the ABS service codes with a scan tool to identify what the system saw that caused it to turn itself off. The only to get rid of an ABS light is to fix the problem. I would get it scaned and see what it would cost for parts. As long as you don't have a red brake warning light then your base brakes are working. If you have both lights then get it fixed soon, before you have an accident. Good Luck
THE ABS LIGHT WILL NOT TURN OFF UNTIL THE ABS PROBLEM IS FIXED.THE VEHICLE COMPUTER WILL HAVE A CODE FOR THE ABS PROBLEM.YOUR REGULAR BRAKES WILL WORK FINE BUT U WILL NOT HAVE ABS FUNCTION.ANY GOOD SHOP SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIX
The light is on because there is a fault in the ABS system, while the light is on the system is disabled, as soon as the ABS problem that turned the light on is fixed the light will go out, have a self test run of the ABS control module for a trouble code, this will steer you in the right direction to fix the issue.
