failed after the job,
so FPR good, fuel pressure regulator tests are first.
per the service manual all tests FPR and related
seen here,
the FPR (most) have fuel return line and if blocked , or pinched or connected wrong the FPR SLAMS to max pressure, and bingo flood city. .use a pressure gauge and learn how to do
all rail , FPR and injector balance tests.
the FPR my have vacuum line dropped off, and if so
the FPR goes to max PRESSURE,. (fuel)
the EFI can not hide a bad FPR, see? can NOT
First check fuel pressure depending on engine it should be between 40-60 psi if good unplug an injector turn the switch on and using a test light the pink wire should have voltage if the test light lights leave one end of the test light lead connected to the pink wire then crank the engine and the light should flash. If the pink wire doesn't light your light check fuses and injection relay. Also check your crank sensor they are known to go bad.
If the fuel pump and injectors check out OK, then this is likely an intermittent throttle position sensor. Sensor thinks the engine Is flooded and shuts off the injectors. This may never set an engine code.
It sounds more like a fuel problem to me then a bad coil or spark ign the spark should be blue but its hard to see in daylight
You say you rebuilt the carb are you sure your main mixture jets are at least 2 to 3 turns out off the stops .
Try pouring fuel down the barrel fill the float bowl if it runs then dies its fuel don't let it catch unfire you should have 45 sec. of run time then adjust the the mixture screws 2 turns is base but when its is running good turn them in 1 at a time and give it 30 sec. to adjust until it starts to stumble then back it out a 1/4 two 1/2 turn then repeat on bank 2
It could be but then again it could be a few thing's . You need to test an see what is missing, if anything . Are there any lights on the dash flashing , SECURITY ! Sounds like the anti-theft system has a problem . That's how some anti-theft systems work , it stops the fuel system or turns off the fuel injectors after a few seconds . You would need to hook up a professional grade scan tool to see if the PCM is turning on the injectors or if the fuel pump relay is being turned on . Just guessing doesn't work on these type vehicles. You could test with a volt meter too , but takes longer .
Hello, just had this problem myself. Check your EGR valve by pulling the vacume line off and pushing up under the valve put your finger over the vacume line hole and release the valve, if it returns to normal position then its bad if not its good. If its bad it needs replaced. Mine did the exact same thing and thats what it was. Hope this helps
When the light flashes it means a cylinder misfire, so you must check everything, spark, (first) injector fuel delivery intake manifold vacuum leaks and compression if not other problem accounts for the misfire.
