Front differential what is the small hose that goes into the front differential? I found it handing down under the car (ZG Grand Cherokee). It does not appear to have any traces of oil or a wire but looks to be some sort of breather tube?....what can I do to remedy?

Thats is exactly what it is. It allows the front diffrerential to relieve pressure when fluid warms and expands. Just make sure it is not in the way of steering components and wont get pinched by suspension. All is well.

There is a hose hanging under the drivers side front end of my 1998 jeep grand cherokee. It comes out of the top of the front differential but I can't seem to find what it connects to. I can't...

This is just a breather tube for the differential. It usually runs up and connects to the fender well. you can tie it to anything up high enough.

1995 jeep grand cherokee ltd 5.? litre . breather hose off of front differential goes from front diff to where?

The breather hose goes to the inner frame on the drivers side. You can attatch it to anywhere as long as it is high enough with slack in the hose for suspension travel.

I have a hose hanging off the back of my front differential and dont know where it goes

may be the breather hose for the axle. looking around can be difficult seeing theres not alot of room. there should be a stem coming out the top side of the axle, around the pumpkin.

Hose from the front differential.

This hose you refer to is the breather tube for the differential. It connects to a fitting at the top of the differential housing and runs up the back side of the radiator so you won't run the risk of water entering the differential if you submerge the front axle in water. Reconnect the rubber hose to the fitting on the differentail.

Have a 1996 jeep grand cherokee zg model

The Jeep has steering idlers (short 7" arms) that eliminate wandering. Sounds like they are worn but FIRSTLY check that you have 4 identical tyre pressures as just one tyre front or back being low will give you the wandering sensation in a 4x4

May buy a Cherokee with a front differential problem.

if you don't have experience with working on cars .... i recommend you take it to a mechanic you trust to assess what kind of work it would need. it's a small investment compared to buying someone elses problem

FRONT END

Drive the car in a parking lot and make left and right hand turns.
If the noise goes away on either turn then the problem is a front hub bearing.
If the noise is still there, it could be possible front differential bearings.
