My brake lights just went out too. The running lights work, but brake lights do not engage. I bought and installed a brand new brake pedal switch, all new bulbs and still no brake lights.
2 weeks ago, smoke started coming out of my ac vent right by the Headlight switch, 10 minutes later my headlights no longer worked. I took the dash apart, and nothing seems burnt. My next step is to replace the headlight switch.
It just seems very odd that this would all occur so suddenly. A friend had a problem with headlights on a 2005 Chevy Impala, and it turned out to be the computer. No idea if there is any relation here.
There has to be a common denominator to us having this problem in our 1994 truck. If you know the solution, please post it!
Thanks in advance!

Go to your brake pedal and see if your brake switch is working properly, push it in with hand and see if switch engages and releases when you let up on pedal. It is adjustable. Also check your bulbs to see if the bulb holder is corruded.Check wiring around bulb too.
Aren't your brake lights and turn signal lights on the same bulb, same filament? Recheck the bulb in the rear, as the rapid blinking is an indication of a burnt out bulb. If the bulb is the correct one and is good, check the connector and socket at the housing for a loose or poor connection.
the turn signal light switch has nothing to do with the brake lights, the problem is most likely the brake light switch which you should find around the area of the brake pedal it may be faulty or has come loose & needs to be adjusted & tightened back up........hope this helps......cheers.
Filaments on actual bulbs might be burned out, pull the socket out from the back of the tailights and do a visual check on the bulbs, replace if needed...
Check the fuses. And check for power at the taillights (These taillights have circuit boards on the back side that can go bad.) I don't think the hazard switch is it because the brakes would still work. Also check the brake pedal switch. There is a hazard flasher, does the hazards work?
