Car alarm preventing car from starting

My 1998 chrysler sebring convertible car battery went dead. we had to disconnect the alarm siren to charge it, as the alarm kept going off. now the battery is charged but the alarm system is still preventing me from starting the car. the valet switch doesn't seem to work. opening the locked car with the key doesn't work. the key fob has fccid: elvat8c and model prooe2. thanks for any help you can give. I have a 1999 Chrysler concorde LXI it runs great at times but when you park it you can get back in and nothing happens when you turn the key nothing lights up on dash except the door open light ,signal lights when turned on aircondition lights not radio . the starter is grtting power but it acts as if it's not and the car doesn't attempt to turn over and you get power to everything else light the trunk ,and windows .

car wont start alarm needs to be reset

  • forda214 Feb 02, 2009

I have a 1998 chrysler concorde with the exact same problem. I left it idle for a few months and the battery went dead. I charged the battery enough to get the engine running for a couple seconds but the factory alarm kicks in, starts honking and flashing lights then turns the car back off. Before this happened though I was unable to disable the alarm from the driver side. I would have to go around to the passenger side to unlock it, and now the power locks don't seem to work from either side... inside or out. How can I disable it, or will it even start if I do?

1999 CONCORDE: check the battery terminals probably they are not tight enough...something like that happened to me just the lights turned on and the car seemed to be dead, the battery is still ok since then. I just needed to buy new terminals.

I have a 1998 Chrysler Sebring How can I

If you can find out how to put it in valet mode, that would at least tell you if its the alarm or something else. Also, when my battery died, I had to put the key in the ignition and turn it to on before connecting new or recharged battery back in.

Try removing the alarm system relay, some car alarm has also a fuse on the alarm that you can remove.
Many car alarms unlock by inserting and turning car key while you connect the battery.

HELP please!! My daughter has a 96 sebring convertible and today she put her key in the door to unlock it and the alarm started going off. It wont stop, have disconnected the positive and negative battery...

Just a quick note once you hook the battery back up try locking it and unlocking it from the drivers door, if that fails you might try the passenger door. I know on some chrysler products you have to lock and lock again to arm and unlock to disarm. I hope this helps.
Thanks,
Joey
