1998 dodge durango front brakes grab
Usually this is caused by grease or oil getting on rotor or pads. Remove wheels and check rotor, pads and lines for signs of a brake fluid leak or any sign of grease or oil that could have gotten on the rotor or pads.
98 durango will not start good abttery and starter also starter relay is new
Hi queenshit200, I'm glad to help!
First you must make sure you have power from the ignition switch to the ASD Relay. Using a test light, turn the ignition switch to the on position and see if you have power at the relay, if the test lights up when you turn the key on and turns off when you turn the ignition off then it is OK from the ignition switch to the relay. NEXT, you must have battery power to the relay at all times, if you do then that circuit is OK. NEXT: make certain you have a good ground on the body of the vehicle and the engine. Also make sure you have a good power too power connection at the junction where the power wires meet together. If all that is OK, then you'll need to know if the Engine Controller is seeing something it doesn't like. OR it's possible the CRANK SENSOR or something else may be bringing down the BUS CIRCUIT. Unplug one thing at a time and see if it starts. If it does after unplugging that sensor or part then that's what you must replace to fix it. Hope this helps and have an awesome day.
98 durango is firing but wont start
If the engine is actually firing when the switch ii in the 'start' position and it dies when you release the switch to the 'run' position, the problem could be the ignition ballast resistor - usually mounted on the firewall. The ballast is a white ceramic rectangle with wires connecting to it
No oil pressure, ticking motor
Possibly a failed oil pump. Check engine oil level first.Make sure it is at least to the safe zone on your engine dipstick. if the motor has not had regular oil changes ( i change mine every 3000 miles like clock work) the oil can sludge and clog oil passages and pickup screen to oil pump.
Why use so much gas?
have the OBD codes read as this will tell you what sensor/switch is at fault, has the CEL shown on the instrument panel , may just need a good service if not done recently
What is the PCM for?
"What is a PCM in a car?
Answer
A PCM in a car is the powertrain control module. This diagnostic device is also referred to as an electronic control unit, abbreviated as the ECU.
The PCM is a small circuitboard computer that is housed inside a case made out of a heavy-duty, durable material. The case is designed to stand up to extreme temperatures in the car's engine, and it is responsible for monitoring the car's components. If the PCM unit detects any problems with the vehicle, the driver is warned through the lights on the dashboard. The PCM is also known for being the brain power behind the engine systems."
I've copied the above definition of the PCM. It is the electronic brains of a vehicle.
