Broken Belt. Easy fix. Working from the front open the door and remove screws under the top section so you can get the top panel off. Then you can remove the front panel and drum. Clean her up and install the new belt with the ribs towards the drum. I have more HERE on my GE dryer repair page.

replace the lid switch located under the switch as most likely a wire has broken off this switch and is usually not repairable,remove the front cover by using a putty knife near the top of the front cover to dislodge the clips,then remove front cover and the wires to the switch will be near the right side of the tub leading to the underside of the tub and you can then remove top cover to replace this switch

There is a broken belt switch by the idler pulley. Make sure that its clicking and closing when you move the idler up and down. If the idler is out of position it will not actuate the broken belt switch and the unit wont run. You could also bypass your door switch to eliminate that as a problem. Hope this helps _MJ_

The easiest way to install a new belt for a GE washer of your model is like putting on a bike chain.

**First unplug the unit.**

Then remove the front panel if you haven`t already.

Now rap the belt around one side of the motor pulley then get it started on the drive pulley. Hold the belt in place while spinning the drive pulley (watch your finger`s the edges are sharp and when the belt slips on it`s very tight...pinching could occur) and the belt should slip in place. You don`t remove the motor or even loosen it, it`s not necessary.

First you take the top off by opening the door. There are two screws in the top part. Second there are two screws that hold the front on, on both sides. You take them out. Finally, this is a important step, remember how the belt goes back on. The Idler controls the tension on the belt. Next after the tension is remove the drum out. Put the new belt around the drum and then around the motor pulley. Then move the idler to the right I think and the move the belt past the idler and that will gain your tension.

rear access cover, remove and hook belt around motor first then around pulley while turning.
