Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. Once you connect the harddrive on the computer go to my computer or computer then right click on the seagate drive then select format. On the window that will pop out on the screen select Fat32 then format the drive. Please use windows xp or 7 because vista don't have fat32 but exfat.
Thanks

I just bought a Seagate 2 TB desktop drive for Mac and PC, it works on my PC but nothing happens on the MacBook

If the Seagate hard drive has been formatted on a PC in NTFS then the MAC cannot read and write to this hard drive.
To exchange data between the PC and MAC then the Seagate hard drive needs to be formatted on a PC in FAT32 not NTFS.

How do i reformat seagate 3tb desktop drive fat32

It can be easy if it is External drive. Just plug it and go to:
Right Click on My Computer
Disk Management
Find Seagate 300tb drive and format it.

If You are using it with your pc. Tou have to install Windows again to reformat it. Just follow Windows installation process and delete the logical drives and repartition it again. Good Luck.

I am trying to format my FreeAgent GoFlex 500 GB to FAT32, but the only options available to me are NTFS, and exFAT. How do I format it to FAT32?

The problem is that Windows doesn't format anything larger than 32GB as FAT32. You need to use a specific tool to do so. Have a look at this website

Seagate freeagent goflex 750 put some movies onto it no problem ,but my tv, or bluray usb doesnt recognise it .any ideas?

Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. Can you pleae provide the make and model of the blueray device so that we can check if the file format of the blueray device is NTFS or FAT32. By default external hard drive is set to NTFS. A good example of this one is a PS3. Ps3 can only detect a hard drive that is a Fat32 fotmat so incase you connect a NTFS hard drive it wont detect it.
Thanks

Also in task manager first end unknown process then try to format. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Hi, I bought a Seagate GoFlex a couple of days ago and successfully backed up my Mac at home. However, when I went to use the GoFlex on my PC at university, the PC was not reading the goflex. Thanks.

Did you reformat the FreeAgent drive when you backed up the Mac? If you use Time Machine or other backup software for the Mac, you had to reformat the drive. If you want the PC to read the disc, it must be formatted in a FAT32 or NTFS file system. The Mac OS formats discs in the HFS+ (extended hard drive format) system.

Unfortunately, if you reformat the disc to a Windows compatible format, you will lose your current backup. The drive will be as a large media transfer disc but not for the backup images. This site, http://www.cs.ubc.ca/~pcarbo/macnexstar.html , has information on splitting the hard drive into two partitions, one HFS+ and one FAT32. Then you could have your backup on one part of the GoFlex and still transfer files from the Mac to the PC and vice versa.

I hope this helps.

How do I format my new Seagate 500GB FreeAgent GoFlex Hard Drive to Fat32 for use with Xbox 360? I am using Windows 7 and when I open up the formatting options only NTFS and exFAT are available.

Windows Disk Management can only format a hard drive less than 32 GB to FAT32. If you want to format your 500GB drive to Fat 32, you need to use third party program like AOMEI Partition Assistant. http://www.disk-partition.com/free-partition-manager.html

I have purchased a Seagate free agent Goflex 500gb I want to run it with my Mac Pro note book it dose not work

For a MAC to use an external Hard drive, the hard drive has to be formatted FAT32 file system. That is the only file system MAC sees.
