I would recommend buying a CD/DVD cleaning disk and trying to clean the laser head. You should be able to purchase one at Walmart, Target, Radio Shack, etc.

If that doesn't work, sadly, it's probably time to get it professionaly repaired or replaced, if the warranty has expired.

Best of luck!

How do u use use lightscribe

Use the CD/DVD label maker program your burner should come with (or some other one). Create the CD/DVD label however you want, just don't be too extravagant... it may not come out very nice. Put your lightscribe CD/DVD media label-side down (upside down) into the tray and print away. Then you wait, wait, wait, and wait some more. Afterwards, you'll probably want to actually put some data on that disc.

How do you put the cd into player> which side

normally the label goes up however if there is no label one side is usually shinier than the other that side goes down. If all else fails put the disk in if it reads it than you have it right if it fails to read the disc than turn it over. It shouldn't hurt anything to put it in upside down

Our Insignia Boombox does not detect the CD. CDs are placed in the Boombox face up, but it continues to say "no disc."

I hope you mean "label side up" since every boombox I have ever seen plays discs face down. If you are putting them in upside down, your CDs certainly won't be detected. However, maybe in yours the CD does need to go in that way.

If you are putting the discs in the right way, the lens on the laser pickup may be dirty. You can try a cleaning disc, but these often don't do any good. And in some multi-disc players they can even jam and cause damage. It's usually best to clean the lens with a cotton swab and lens cleaner.

Another possibility is that the pickup is just too worn out to play anymore. If this is a new problem and it's not because of dirt, the pickup may need to be replaced. Over time the laser power drops, and when it gets too weak there isn't enough light bouncing off the disc for the pickup to register it. Pickups are replaceable, but depending on the part cost and the work needed to get to it, it may be more economical to replace the boombox.
