Generally, the fuses are located in a box outside by the outdoor unit. The box has a door on it and you will probably have to pull a cartridge out and the fuses will be behind the cartridge. If you don't have an ohm meter to check the fuses , just go to home depot, lowes or another hardware store where they can check them for you. Be sure to check the circuit breakers too.

Before proceeding you must know 2 things about the A/C:
What are Central A/C components? To keep this simple there are 2 main components that makes the Central A/C: AC condensing unit (AKA compressor) normally sits next to house and the AC unit inside the house controlled by the thermostat located in the basement or a closet. This mean there are 2 different breaker switches, one for each unit.
Why is the A/C not cooling? It could be many things, among all the possible problems:
- Need to change filter.
- Ice on one of the brass pipes from the condenser to the house -> Low on refrigerant/freon
- Refrigerant leakage.
- AC Cooling Coil problem.
- A/C Compressor not running - Fan not spinning -> Blown fuse.
- ETC...
If the unit isn't starting, there are various relays that can get stuck, or stop working. I had an older unit (waiting to be replaced) with a failing relay that I could get to work again just by turning off the power to the unit for a minute, and then turning the power back on.
