I just bought a vintage pink Sunbeam Mixmaster, model MMA. The top shroud of the mixer, being plastic, has turned a peachy tan shade. The other parts of the mixer are metal and have not discolored at all. Is there any way I can get a replacement part or get the pink color back? Linda

Have you called Sunbeam? if that does not work, go to Sherwin Williams. They have machine that can "duplicate colors" by that it can tell you what color it is and make it for you. p.s. you have to paint it or get someone to do it for you.

It is the worm gears attached to the front of the motor in the housing I had the same problem on the heritage series. The parts are plastic so inevtiably they wear out.

SOURCE: Sunbeam Mixmaster Heritage Series Model 2350 speed problem

The speed control on the back is simply a variable resistance potentiometer, the same thing that controls the volume on older amplifiers. The output current to the motor is supplied by the printed circuit board in the bottom of the unit. This allows gradual increases in speed to avoid over-torquing the motor on speedup. Even the poshy-posh-posh mixers do this.

At least it still works. The most common problem is the cheap plastic drive gears that strip out with a mild cookie dough, this jams the beaters together and requires burial-at-dumpster.

SOURCE: Sunbeam mixmaster jammed, will not

That picture looks like you are using the Heritage model, which is the one I just fixed for myself.

I had to remove two parts in order to get access to the piece that was causing the problem:
1) The "torpedo" shaped knob that sticks out from the mixer speed dial;
2) The speed dial itself

Both of these pieces clip-in, and can be removed with a screwdriver by pressing in on one of the hooks that hold them in place.

After these two pieces are removed look for a small washer right below the motor (it is sitting on top of the upper portion of a screw) -- in my case this washer had come loose; I tightened it with a 1/4 size wrench (you can also tighten it by hand to release the tilt, it will probably become loose in the future if you don't tighten it further, but if you don't have the necessary tools this will at least allow you to get your tilt unlocked).

On another note, after tightening this washer I also noticed that the tilt release had become easier to use -- previously I found that I had to press the tilt release button very hard to get the tilt to unlock.

I hope this helps!

SOURCE: Sunbeam Heritage Mixmaster Won't Tilt

Hi

Most of them have a button to push that releases the mixer head to tip back. Sometimes the buttons stick and will not release. That picture looks like you are using the Heritage model.

You have to remove two parts in order to get access to the piece that was causing the problem:

1) The "torpedo" shaped knob that sticks out from the mixer speed dial;
2) The speed dial itself

Both of these pieces clip-in, and can be removed with a screwdriver by pressing in on one of the hooks that hold them in place.

After these two pieces are removed look for a small washer right below the motor (it is sitting on top of the upper portion of a screw) -- in my case this washer had come loose; tighten it with a 1/4 size wrench (you can also tighten it by hand to release the tilt, it will probably become loose in the future if you don't tighten it further, but if you don't have the necessary tools this will at least allow you to get your tilt unlocked).

On another note, after tightening this washer you may also notice that the tilt release had become easier to use -- previously you may have found that you have to press the tilt release button very hard to get the tilt to unlock.

Please do accept the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

ereplacementparts or direct from Sunbeam are the best retailers of spares, but at that age, you best bet is to buy another as a parts machine from eBay.

How do I tighten the speed control dial on a vintage Sunbeam Mixmaster PowerPlus?

There is a cover plate over the screw that you need to tighten. This cover plate is held in place by two spring latches, 180 degrees apart. Use a small flat-tip screwdriver to depress first one latch, then the other. Don't use too much force - the latches are plastic and will break if treated roughly.

How to disassemble a sunbeam 2370 mixer

To disassemble a sunbeam mixmaster 2370, find four plastic snappers arranged at 1, 5, 7 and 11 o'clock around the front circle of vents. They can be seen with the help of a good flashlight. un-snap them and the top and bottom shells will separate. From there on, it is clips and screws. Good luck!
