Acer travelmate 2003lc will not boot with new ram

Removed original module replace it with 512 module..it boots. iserted anther 512 module( matched pair) into slot 2 , refuses to book with boths slots occupied.. any suggestions ?

have tried all of the above combinations...(every dimm works on it's own in slot 1) ....slot 2 damaged ? if you insert a dimm into slot 2 on its own an audible alarm sounds so it appears that slot 2 is addresed by the bios when it is booted.

512MB (FT64MSD64V3F)
200 Pin Dimm - SDRAM - 2.5V - DDR - PC2700 (PC-333) - Non-ECC

is the correct type of RAM for your laptop.
Have you tried booting with all combinations.

512 in slot 1 --- Boots
move same dimm to slot 2 (on it's own) and try booting.
boot with 256mb in slot 1 and known to be good 512 in number 2

This laptop should allow up to 2GB RAM. So I don't belive it is an issue with the mother board not seeing the amout of RAM. I think it could either be flaky dimm or your slot 2 is damaged

The audible alarm is possibly the Bios saying "no Ram detected"
Try booting with no Ram, if you hear the same alarm, then slot 2 is damaged

Failure to boot Acer Travelmate 243xc Ms2138

Computer does not boot up The problem maybe the RAM, it could be faulty or just needs reseating to make proper electrical contact.
Reseat the RAM and then boot up your laptop. If it still does not boot up then remove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you. Just like you sometimes need a mechanic to repair your car, sometimes you do need a technician to diagnose and identify the fault or faults on your computer. Not only does a good service technican have the experience to deal with this type of problem, they also have the equipment that allows them to look at things the average computer user can't see, and he has a collection of replacement parts that can be used to quickly test individual components on your computer.

Upgraded ram 1gb wont boot hp 510 mobo 30C4

If you added another 512Mb RAM to increase the RAM to 1Gb then the new 512Mb memory stick could be incompatible with the original 512Mb or it could be faulty.
Use RAM that is same make and speed as the original RAM.
Remove both RAM and just insert the new 512Mb into your laptop and see if the laptop boots up, if not then the RAM could be faulty.

Trying to add ram

Take them both out and reboot, you should get a beeping sound which is basically telling you it has no ram.

Then put 1 stick back in, and reboot. If it doesn't boot, take it back out and replace it with the other stick. If it still doesn't boot, try an original stick of ram if you still have them.

you could either have faulty ram or ram that is not compatible with your travelmate.

Acer 2300 Travelmate wont start up

my guess is that your ram got loosed a little bit. that is why some of your system files are not loading correctly. Try re-inserting you ram or memory. just always remember that computer parts are very fragile so do not force to dislodge anything.

Memory upgrade problems

Hmm if the pc takes DDR Ram , it should deffently take 512 sticks, have u tried booting the computer with just the one 512 stick ? or try putting the 256 stick in and 1 x 512 stick , test it that way with both sticks , some older computers there is a bios setting for upgrading to higher amount of memory, but in your case with DDR ram i dont think so , i mean it may be worth a shot going into bio's and load optimized defaults , press f10 to save settings, try one stick at a time after that , if still no go , there is a jumper pin on the mother board that u can move over a slot which will restet the bios, if u dont know this jumper pin or where it is, just remove the round battery on the motherboard for 30 seconds , then put it back in , try your new ram then , u will be asked to save settings on boot up , if it still dosent work the ram is either faulty or incompatible, alot of the time with Dell , HP /Compaq desktops there fussy with the type of ram they take, but if u ordered from dell it should have worked !! whats the brand name of the ram u have is it hynix? /HP this brand of ram has alot of issues with compatibility,
