Hi, the reason why you are getting the flashing light is because the dishwasher failed to detect a 4 degrees rise in the water temp during the first 8 minutes of the cycle. Some reasons for this is a faulty heater, door switch,(heater runs through the nuetral side of the door switch), lack of water, d/w not filling correctly, should be just below heating element. Clear the fault by pressing following order. .

The dishwasher will go through a cancel cycle (drain the tub) and will then let you start it up again.

Model 655-17014401 clean light (green) flashes but dishwasher won't start

This means you have an open heat circuit. It could be either a bad heating element, a bad hi limit thermostat, or a bad control board. The heater and hi limit therm can be tested for continuity with an ohm meter. Most of these units the heater will come with the control board in a kit. Hope this helps.

My Kenmore HE5 dryer will not run without blowing an internal fuse. The repairman replaced the fuse, and it blew again. The dryer heats up but will not turn it's heating element off until the fuse blows....

Has any one checked the exhaust vent, other than a bad thermostat the number one cause for the thermal fuse to open is a clogged or restricted exhaust vent flow, the entire vent system needs to be checked ( not just the hose from the unit to the wall) for proper air flow. Turn the unit on TIMED ,AIR DRY (NO HEAT) and go outside to the exhaust vent and check the air flow,if there is any question as to weather the air flow is sufishent get someone out to clean the exhaust vent ,it always a good idea to clean out every few years regardless to help prevent build up of lint witch could cause a fire......Hope this Helps Good Luck

Clean light blinking will not start

If the clean light flashes 7 times, pauses, then repeats...

When the dishwasher doesn't sense a water temperature increase, it stops working and locks the functions (clean light flashes 7 times, all buttons are non responsive). It does this as a safety in case the element is broken and feeding electrical current into the water.

To resolve this you will have to reset the console. Do this by closing the door and press these buttons in sequence...

-high temp wash
-heated dry
-high temp wash
-heated dry

...all the lights will turn on briefly and the machine will start a diagnostic cycle. Let it go through the diagnostic to test the function of the element.(1-2 minutes). When it finishes, open the door and touch the element to see if it is hot (be careful, it can get pretty hot so wet your fingers to avoid burns).
Once the diagnostic has cleared, you should be able to run the dishwasher as normal.

If the issue returns, you could have a problem with the heating circuit (ie. element, thermostat or wiring).
It rarely happens but it could also be the door switch not engaging properly when the door is closed (slightly bend the door latch down making sure it doesn't hit the door when you close it).

Good luck!

Heating element circut malfunction In Dishwasher. Wash not workin

Great job walking through the possible causes! Hey, it is time to check the heating element itself. First visually, looking for brakes and then feeling for "bubbles" on the round element rod. Also see if it moves excessivly when you wiggle.
If no problem obvious, after you disconnect the dishwasher from power, use a multimeter to check for resistance (Ohms) If none, look for broken (heavy guage) wires and replace what's broken - probably the element itself.
If the element checks out good, suspect the thermistor then the controller/PCB.
Good Luck! Please report back what you find, OK?

Clean light flashing 7 times. Can't start the machine

The cleam light blinking means that the unit was not able to reach a proper heated wash cycle. Either your heating element failed orthe actual sump/pump motor system has failed. Check the element in the botton and see if it looks broken anywhere. If you can see a broken spot, you will k now that is the trouble.

Good Luck!

Kichtenaid DISHWASHER KUDS01

On Whirlpool and Kitchenaids the flashing clean light means that there is a problem with the heating element circuit and probably the element itself. You can try to reset the machine by clicking the sanirinse and heat dry buttons back and forth a couple of times. All of the lights will come on and it will reset itself. If the machine keeps going to the flashing clean light then replace the heating element and reset the machine again.

Kenmore 16602 dishwasher

Exactly, if the heater is not defective, please do not replace it. I am aware that the owners manual says that if you have the clean light to flash then the heating element may be defective. More times than not the heating element is not defective but the controls can be reset and you can send the unit through a diagnostic test to find out what may be defective.
