Hello christine, most computers os/drivers/recovery disc (disc that came with your system) has already being pre installed before shipped to you or before you buy them. even though insderting the cd or not wonmt cause damage to the system since its the disc that came with you set. so dont allow it bother you whatever you do. if its already installed it would let you know if it isnt you will be informed still.
all the best christine, nice system you've got

Turn it on first and see if the drivers and OS are already pre-installed. If it is not then put the CD (s) in and just follow the prompts.

Thanks for using fixya!

Factory reset from CD

Click the "Start" menu on your computer and choose "Accessories." Click "System Tools" and choose "Back up" from the list. This process will back up any files on your computer that you wish. When you reset your HP to its default settings, all documents, programs and other files on your computer will be lost. Back up anything you may need later. Follow the on-screen instructions to move through the back-up wizard. When given the option "Let me choose what to back up," select all programs or documents you want to save. If you're unsure whether you'll need it, back it up just in case. Insert a blank CD or DVD to save your files. Choose your CD drive from the "Back up location" option in the backup wizard. Keep multiple blank CDs or DVDs on hand. You'll need a lot of space, and typically several CD's, to back up all your information. Click "Finish" at the end of the back-up wizard and it will begin to burn information to the CD or DVD. When prompted, remove the CD and insert a new one. Continue until the computer is done backing up your information. Label each CD or DVD in the order you burn it. This way you can transfer your information back into the computer in the order you saved it. Check your CDs or DVDs to make sure the back up was complete by opening a file from the CD. Exit any open programs. You are now ready to start the restoration process. Click the "Start" menu, "All Programs," "System Recovery," and choose "PC Recovery." Choose "PC Recovery" again once the menu opens and click "Next." Your computer will restart automatically. When it turns back on, a welcome message for the PC Recovery software will display on screen. Click "OK." Select the "System Recovery" option to restore the computer to its default settings. Follow any on-screen instructions and wait for the computer to finish resetting your settings to the default. Insert your first back-up CD or DVD to start reinstalling your programs after boot-up. Open the files and save them to the computer. After you've saved everything from the first CD, continue on with the rest. Hope this helps.

How do i fix error ofoo:0244 and ofoo:1a44 (msg block 16867582, 46028639 & 111595250), please? I get these codes when I start my pc

Hi,
I would suggest you first try the Start Up Repair for Windows XP.
1. Just insert the Windows XP installation CD that came with your computer then restart the computer.
2. You should get a prompt to start the computer from the CD drive, if not you need to enter BIOS settings to set the start/boot up mode so that your computer will boot up first from the CD.
3. When you see the blue screen, let the computer load everything and when it's done choose "To set up Windows XP now, press ENTER"4. Press F8 to agree to the License Agreement 5. Choose "To repair the selected Windows XP installation, press R"
Windows will then start the repair process. Do not worry all your data and settings will be retained.

If above solution does not work then,Use Recovery Console.
1. Just insert the Windows XP installation CD that came with your computer then restart the computer.2. You should get a prompt to start the computer from the CD drive, if not you need to enter BIOS settings to set the start/boot up mode so that your computer will boot up first from the CD.3. When you see the blue screen, let the computer load everything and when it's done press R to repair Windows XP using Recovery Console4. On the Recovery Console, choose the installation you would like to log on to (for example c:\Windows)5. Type Chkdsk /p /r on the Recovery Console and your computer will begin to check the hard drive for error and recover data.6. Once Chkdsk is completed, type exit then press Enter. Computer should restart. No need to boot from CD at this point. You can take out the Windows installation CD.

Hope this helps. Glad to be of service.

How to reinstall the Operating system on your computer

Select models, with Microsoft Windows, have the ability to have the Operating System reinstalled from a hidden partition built into the computer.
Note: During the process, all data stored on your computer will be overwritten. This means all your files, such as email and photos, will be erased. Therefore, we recommend making a backup of all personal data before starting the recovery process.
To start the system recovery:
1.Restart the computer.
2.When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the Alt and F10 keys repeatedly.
3.If you are prompted with a Microsoft Windows boot screen, press the Enter key.
4.After the system recovery application has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.
If the ability to reinstall from the previous method is not available or fails, recovery of the Operating System will need to be from Recovery Media. If you do not have a set of Acer Recovery Media, you may purchase the set online from the Acer Recovery Media Order Form..
Note: If your computer does not have an internal optical disc drive, an external optical disc drive will be required in order to recover the Operating System using Acer Recovery Media.
1.Restart the computer.
2.When the Acer logo appears on the screen, press the F12 key repeatedly to enter the computer's Boot Menu.
3.Press the CD-ROM drive eject button and insert the disc labeled System CD.
4.Close the CD-ROM tray.
5.Refer to on screen instructions to select either CDROM or USB CDROM.
6.The computer will boot from the Acer Recovery Media
7.When prompted for the Recovery CD, remove the System CD and insert the Recovery CD.

Note: If there are multiple Recovery CDs, please insert the first of the Recovery CDs.

8.After the system recovery application has loaded, follow the prompts to reinstall the Operating System.
Note: if your computer is unable to run the Acer Recovery process, or errors occur during recovery, please contact Acer support.

My daughters computer is a dell latitude D610 notebook running Windows XP.....when powering up XP starts to load and then goes to a blank blue screen....Is there a restore disc or something i can download...

Hi. I provided you a link where to download the restore disk. Once you have downloaded the restore disk, here's the instruction on how to use the disk.

Instruction:

  • Backup all the data you want to keep on an external hard drive, flash drive, or rewritable CD. Resetting your Dell to factory defaults will erase all data currently on your computer.

  • 2

Insert the Recovery CD into your CD-ROM.

  • 3

    Reboot your computer.

  • 4

Watch the text in DOS carefully. When prompted to boot from your CD, do so.

  • 5

Choose System Restore and then follow the instructions presented. Once system recovery beings, it may take a few minutes. Once it's done, your system will reboot again.

  • 6

Remove the Recovery CD from your CD-ROM and store it carefully. Your system has been reset to the factory default.
