If you are using a satelite system...just unplug the satelite receiver for 30 seconds and plug back up. Try unpluging the TV and check for the mute function...it may be off. Also go to the sound menu in the TV and be sure the speakers are on. The worst problem is a main signal board.

Today, while watching tv on the Dish, tv suddenly started powercycling. I unplugged it, waited, and then tried a DVD -- worked fine. Tried Dish again, power cycled again -- on off on off, 1/2 second of...

If you are using a powerstrip may not be supplying enough power to run the LG HDTV and your HD receiver. If you are using a powerstrip make sure the receiver is plugged directly into the wall. Otherwise this may be a grounding issue please reply if this doesn't work and we can look into some other possibilities.

Had my LG for about a month. Sudeenly today it started to turn on and off - like it is recycling or something. Any idea this might be?

If it's only a month old, I don't suggest opening it up at all, as it will void your warranty.
Get it replaced under the warranty - that's what it's there for.

If however you live in some remote corner of the earth, and it will take you 8 months to get it to a location where you can get it replaced, here's what's likely going on, and how to fix it.

There's a good chance you have failing electrolytic capacitors either in the power section or the inverter section or both.
Any caps in these sections that look bulged at the top, or bulged/leaking at the bottom need to be replaced.
If you repeatedly turn it off and on, eventually it'll probably stay on, but every time you turn it off, the TV will get harder and harder to start up until one day it just won't.
Sometimes you have to do the opposite to start it up and unplug it for some time and then try again.

If you aren't tech savvy, don't worry, read the rest of this solution and watch the videos.

If you are handy with a soldering iron and can identify the power supply and inverter / FM section for the backlights, an inexpensive handful of capacitors will likely fix you right up.
Match the capacitance on the capacitors. Go over voltage if you can, and still have them fit.
IE - it's not a bad idea to replace a 10V cap with a 16V or 25V or even a 50V, but don't replace a 680uF cap with a 500uF or a 1000uF (unless you are positive it's only doing ripple filtering, and even then, you should go OVER, not under the uF rating).

Most of the caps that go are 10V 1000uF or 3300uF.

I found some great videos of the procedure (for many Samsungs with the same issue) on youtube.

As you can see, this issue spans plasma TVs, as well as large and small LCD TVs and monitors.
The parts are cheap, and skill required is minimal.

I have an LG 50"

It means you have a panel display driver problem. A part of your display is being triggered wrong.
If you are within warranty period call service center for help.

My lg 50inc tv is only 18 months old today we were watching it and the screene went black no picture but sound

That indicates a problem with loose inverters or the inverter board itself needing to be replaced.

47LG70 - PICTURE WENT OUT. STILL HAVE SOUND. HEARD A POPPING NOISE WHEN PICTURE WENT. TV IS ONLY 1 1/2 YEARS OLD. ANY IDEAS WHAT MAY OF HAPPENED.

I have had the same problem off and on with my 47LG70 for months. When the "popping" noise happens, the blue light in the corner stays on, so I know the tv is still on (sometimes I still have sound, sometimes I don't). Sometimes the screen goes black, but other times it is blue. If I turn the tv off then on again, it might stay on for seconds, minutes or hours. It's been very frustrating.

This seemed to happen right after I got my new Comcast box, which came with an HDMI 1.3 cable. I read somewhere online that this tv might not be compatible with that cable, so I unplugged it and am using component cables again. I just did this today, so I don't know if it will work, but so far the tv has been on for 30 minutes with no problems.

I'm pretty ignorant about HDMI compared to component cables. I imagine I will not get as good a picture with the component cables, but I am willing to sacrifice quality if I can just get the darn thing to work. Mine is also only 18 months old.

Hope this helps. If it doesn't, maybe someone else out there can help us both.

Date on watch?

mcdevito75 here, YES! that"s normal, all Date watches go up to 31, as some months have 31 days, watch makers haven"t come out with a mechanism that will automatically jump the 31 to the 1, well not that I know of, you simply turn the hands another 24 hours from 31 to 1 if the specific month ends with only 30 days.

Beep and chime will not work

I think there would have been a minute spring coming from the back of the watch module to the backplate of the watch - this spring carried a vibration / beep which echoed off the backplate. Chances are you have damaged this spring during battery change - as i did with my gShock. Basically it's nackered!
