The information provided by Acer is not enough. Just the basic information is available. Their business is to sell a new system instead.

Youneed to find the spec / manual of your motherbaord to see what cpu's are compatible. You can find information for your comp here http://www.acerpanam.com/flex/acer/bin/acer.html#
or you can enter you comp serial number here for info
https://secure3.tx.acer.com/FindSystem/FindSystem.aspx?title=Information%20About%20Your%20System
Then you can see if the motherboard will handle an updated cpu.

As long as it is an ATX compatible power supply increasing the available wattage is not an issue, only meeting MIMIMUM power requirements
You can go to a 500, or even a 750 as long as it has the correct motherboard connections

Hi there, I have a Qosmio G35 (as stated) and I have upgraded it to Windows 7 Ultimate and increased the RAM to 4gb. Problem: Windows Experience Index has everything above 4.1, except for the processor....

Most of this series already came with a core 2 duo

However to get best use of that you do need to make sure you install a 64 bit OS

It will go up a small amount in CPU speed but that increase will be negligable in the grand scheme of things.

4Gb ram is sufficiebt to run windows 7 but the limiting factor will be the graphics.
The problem with almost all laptops is in most cases the inablility to install a decent graphics card of suitable power to take advantage.

If you want to use it for gaming of any proportion then you would need to consider a new laptop.
If gaming is not a major concern then it should be suitable for the 2 years you are seeking to achieve.

Any additions including extra memory bring about increases in heat.

For sure you should get a proper cooling pad with its own power supply. Dont cheap out on a laptop usb powered cooler as you fill find battery drain heavy and even possible burn out of the USB ports.

Again doing a cpu upgrade is not going to give you as much benefit as you would like and from my POV the cost would outweegh the benefit.

Try these....
Overheating problem in your PROCESSOR!
Check the temp in your BiOS and the setting of your processor!
Check also the power supply and upgrade it to hifgher wattage!
Clean your processor HEAT SiNK, dust and dirt might have acumulated!
Check the HEAT sink position, if its flatly fitted on top of procie, and scrape the old silicon paste between ur proci and heat sink and put a NEW ONE!

Encountered this kind of prob.. the prob is in the PSU unit(Power Supply Unit)!

These might help you!

Since you want to upgrade your video card to a much powerful one, you can check this out ATI Radeon HD 4670 HD4670 512MB DVI PCIe Video Card.

Doing the upgrade a power supply upgrade is also advisable since new video card like now requires a high power supply, upgrade the power supply to at least 500W and for a additional fan is already recommended to avoid any overheating problem.

CPU upgrade for Satellite 5205-S505

You would only get a marginal performance increase. If your laptop has 256Mb of RAM, increasing the RAM up to 1Gb (this model laptop cannot support more than 1Gb RAM) would boost the performance of the laptop.

Hi! help plz!

1) Not sure what you want to do. Return to Win98? You may be hardpressed to find Win98 drivers, especially if you have any newer peripherals.

2) Since a cpu has no mechanical parts, it makes no difference whether it is vertical or horizontal. A cd/dvd drive however may be a different story.

3) If you only have 2 RAM slots that hold a max of 256mb, it stands to reason that you can only have 512mb total. There used to be some software programs that were supposed to have the effect of increasing RAM, but I never had much faith in them.
