What is s/w

Please do not use abbreviations non-tech people might not understand.
You said:

  • hmmm...well..that's a 'reset' position for that carriage..means that the print commands are corrupted.suggest you remove the old s/w
  • go here for new fresh set of drivers(don't use CD version) re install
  • try again with test page first.
I don't know what s/w means and the website noted had nothing to do with drivers that I could see.
Thanks,
Sandra

Sandra,

S/W probably means software, I guess it saved him 5 keystrokes. The website was not anything remotely related to your problem.

Reinstalling the software driver for the printer was what he intended for you to do. Go to the following HP website; http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=397785

Click on the colored underlined part above, this will take you to the HP site for your printer. Read the information there for the needed files and instructions.

Good luck!

Do you use short forms to communicate on twitter such as SMS if so where do I find the info to learn it. I have looked for books for short forms however I haven't found one. I am new to this. Thanks

Hello there.
Short forms or abbreviations are commonly used in SMS and tweets; however, you should make sure that your message isnt so abbreviated that no body will understand them. Here is a list of common abbreviations: http://www.abbreviations.com/acronyms/SMS
And here is more of a full dictionary of many of the abbreviations: http://www.abbreviations.com/acronyms/SMS
If you read this wikipedia article, it details how this internet slang can be formed yourself. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMS_language
I hope this helps! Thumbs up are much appreciated.

Describe the rules of the metric table

General Rules for Abbreviating Units of Measure
  • Always abbreviate units when reporting numerical information.
  • Unless otherwise noted, singular and plural units are abbreviated the same.
    • Percent is not abbreviated, but is represented by the familiar "%" symbol.
  • Always put a space between the number and unit, e.g., 203.65 m, 457 um
  • pH: The proper method for reporting pH is to place the unit before the number (pH 7); never insert the word "of" between the unit and number and avoid splitting the unit and number within a sentence - they should always go together.
  • When do you abbreviate units vs. spelling out the unit(s) as word(s)?
    • abbreviate units when you are reporting a numerical value:
"The maximum depth achieved by the ROV was 124 m approximately 2.3 km due south of Pt. Lobos."
    • spell out the unit as a word when using it in a non-numerical context, e.g.,
"All measurements were made in millimeters unless otherwise indicated."
    • When starting a sentence with a number and unit, both must be spelled out as words (this is something to avoid, if possible), e.g.,
"One thousand six hundred and eighty-seven kilograms of ground beef were randomly sampled and tested for E.coli contaminants between 21 August and 21 November, 1995."
