I have a brand new Gaggia Brera the machine grinds the coffee but the light comes on saying the coffee dispenser is empty, I have tried many different types of beans to no avail, I have set the coffee to grind at the largest setting. I have noticed that the water dispenses like a "trickle" do not know whether this is at all connected? I have cleaned the brewing set and also taken the top of the machine and cleaned inside the motor grinder to make sure no obstructions are their. I purchased the machine in Dubai and bought it to the Philippines otherwise i would return the unit but it is a 9 hours flight away!!! hoping for any surgestions.

It looks like the Triangle is the problem section, not that I understand why. These machine need servicing every 9 to 12 months if you use them every day.

Hi there My experience tells me that when a red light flashes on a coffeemaker it is one of three things: It needs water to be able to make more coffee The "bowl" that the compressed coffee goes in ids full and needs emptying It needs cleaning I would start filling the waterholder, Then emptying the compressed coffee holder If neither works, then start the cleaning prosess Best of luck and enjoy your coffee Kolbrun

been talking to Gaggia (Philips) and they told me that with the newer Breras, you need to ill the water tank, put the machine into standby, then press the long and short cup buttons together for 6 seconds. This will start an auto descale programme (that they didn't mention in my manual!). A small amount of water will be dispensed through the coffee nozzles, then it will stop and the warning triangle and the prime warning light will come on. Place a large container under the panarello, then turn the knob to the right to dispense water. It will dispense about 50 - 100 mls (cold) water, then stop for about a minute. Just leave it and eventually it will empty the tank. Refill it and start again, but it will stop after a few seconds. Turn the knob back to central position, then it will dispense another small amount of water from the coffee nozzles, then stop with warning lights again. Turn the knob back right to dispense water, if it stops because of empty tank, just refill it. Eventually, the machine will stop and go to standby. Turn the knob back to the centre, refill tank yet again and the machine will start normally WITHOUT that descale warning light. HOORAY !!

finer grind setting and non oily beans did the trick for me.......

try a finer grind coffee , you cant use a "store" grind in a cappuccino machine it requires a much finer grind than that

Try to descale your machine, use descaling tablets or descaling powder.

I have the same problem. Not a solution, but you can still take the ground beans and brew coffee, using the pre-ground compartment.
