When you refrigerator is making a clicking sound every few seconds this can be caused by a couple of reasons.
1. The pressures are not equilized enought to start the compressor. This can be caused by the head pressure getting to high and not coming down far enought in the off cycle so that the compressor can start.
(things that you can do at home is to make sure that the condensor coils are clean. the condensor is either located on the back or on the bottom of the refrigerator. Make sure that the fan on the bottom is clean and blade clean and that the fan is operating.) When you clean everything let the refrigerator stand for 1/2 hour unplugged before you plug it in this will allow the compressor to cool down and also allow the pressures to equilize. If after doing this it does the same thing and you dont know what else to do and are not mechanically inclined, call a service man.
2. This can be caused by weak or bad start componants. When and if you change any start parts it is good practice to change all start parts. (start capacitor, run capacitor, start relay, and overload. To many times one start part will go bad and the short cycling will take a toll on the other parts. If you know how to read a volt ohm meter I have phone support and can talk you thru it. If you do not, call a service man.
3. Other reasons are in the refrigeration system and this will require a service man.
I hope this was helpful to you. Have a great day and good luck.
If this tip helps you, please give me a rating. thanks.
