Phone keeps beeping and says "Recall:LK1"

HP started a recall on the 1040 fax and 1050 fax due to a potential overheating and fire hazard. Additional information can be found here:

Possible that the phone has errors in the software. So to reset remove the battery and the memory card from the phone. Using your PC , scan the memory card for any corrupt files or media files with virus- it is possible when they are downloaded from unsafe sites. If so remove or format the card. Now replace the card and battery and switch on the phone. If the phone hangs up then it is confirmed that the software is corrupt and will need a reinstallation. Seeking help from the authorized service /support centre is most ideal. Take estimate and decide.

Your phone service provider is sending a signal on your phone line that is activating the message waiting on your phone. Likewise the beep-beep-beep you hear is called stutter dail tone which is sent by your phone service provider to indicate that you have a message in voicemail for phones that do not have message waiting or message waiting light ability. To cancel the message indicators, you'll need to call your phone service provider customer support and have them disable voicemail. Nowadays, voicemail service is often automatically added by service providers, especailly if you have recently changed service providers or your service provider has upgraded their switch equipment.

You can either press feature 03 (recall) while on the telephone callto switch between the callers or you can program a recall button on your phone by pressing feature 00, press the button you want to make your recall button. and press feature 03.

To change the hold recall timer on a prostar 816 you first need to be at a display set (doesn't matter what the extension number is).
with the handset down enter #20 the screen should say MMC DISABLED
enter in 1 2 3 4 1 # (that enables programming)
The code for hold recall is #52
enter in your hold recall time in sec. and in a 3 digit format. i.e. 30 seconds = 030 a minute and a half is 090 and so on.
press # when finished

batteries are easy got for these phones! ebay etc. button on back of phone near top, press it in and battery comes off, regards the beeping...try resetting the phone to factory settings.....menu/settings/ok/scroll down to "reset settings/ok "sound settings" if that doesnt work ok "all" you may loose your personal settings by doing this! let me know how you get on,

Page 55 lists your trouble and gets you to page 49. You take the bandset and base, press the locator button on the base and then press the flash/recall button on the handset until Handset Registering appears on the display. If it beeps one time, wait 20 seconds and it should register. If it beeps 3 times, keep trying.

you also need to install the Mobile Phone Tools software...if the cd did not come with the phone in te box then try motorola.com or brvp.com.

I just unplugged the phone at the mains to try and clear the memory and that has solved the problem.
