When what is open? Always keep the battery / memory card door closed. If it is not closed correct, the camera won't work as expected. To protect the file system, when someone should pul out the memory card, while the camera is accessing the memory, it will or shut down completely, or at least protect the memory card against writing to it.
Before opening the battery / memory card cover, always make sure the camera is completely shut off. That means no light is allowed to burn or flicker. The memory card can also be write protected (SD cards) when the lock switch is down like in the picture on the 32GB card.
Before you can make any picture the switch on the card should be up like on the 64GB card on the picture.
If you take out the memory card and look at it... it has a little button
on the side... slide it over.... and then slap it back in the camera
and that should take care of the problem.
You can also get the memory card locked/protected message if you are
trying to use a SDHC card in a camera that does not support High
Capacity (HC). High Capacity is any SD card with over 2GB of memory
space.
More information on the camera and memory card would be helpful. However I'm going to assume the camera is an advanced point and shoot type with an SD type card. Along the side of the memory card is a small switch for lock and unlock. Unlock the card by pushing the switch to the top of the card towards the gold contacts. In some cameras (my fijifilm E900) for one needs to have the battery removed for a few seconds to reboot the camera memory. Insert the memory card and format it again. A tip for this and all memory cards is FORMAT the card in the camera never delete single images. Yes I know they give you this little garbage can to delete unwanted images but what that does is leaves a hole in the memory keep doing this and the memory card will loose its capacity. Cheers hope this helped.
in the menu there could be a protect setting you should also use the camera to format the card in you'r settings as well theres 2 menu's (on mine) 1 from the shoot a pic & 1 from you'r taken pic's, view photo's & open menu you should find the protect setting & in the regular menu is the format setting .
the SD Memory Card switch is to the "Lock" side. (remove memory card)unlock the protection by sliding it back (u can c a small switch in the side of memory card)... this has to work.... happy photography.....
Check the side of the memory card. Some of them have a little switch that turns on/off write protection. If there is no switch, you can try to format it in the computer first, then put it in the camera and format it again.
You might have a USB virus or spyware infection in the memory card. I suggest you have Kodak develop the pictures then wipe the memory card clean. And the pictures might be dark because of the camera settings and or the development quality. Try resetting the camera. Hope this works.
in the end it was my memory card which suddenly went faulty.after formatting it, (see above added comment) it worked for some pictures then i switched to playback and this time it said memory card error and shut down. well if it would have said this in the first place would have saved a lot of trouble i almost threw the thing away.(the camera) so i puts a new card inside and its working like new, all the playback i can handle. goes to show its not always as bad as it looks with a little patience.....merci
is it for a camera or a phone because if it is for a camera you have to format the memory card by the camera itself you cannot format the data or etc on the computer
