The part behind the lcd screen is broken
I think you need to replace the screen module, from your description of the fault. The 'part behind the screen' IS the LCD module - the front part is for protection. As you can still take pictures and store image files, it is just the screen at fault.

I'm sorry but you can't use the camera as a webcam. Here is why. There is no function on the camera to stream video.
Also, the camera goes into standby mode after 30 seconds (by default). And 3 minutes after that, it shuts off completely. It does that to save batteries. Again. I'm sorry. Good webcams average between $20. to $50. usd and they are made to work 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
You can use a 4GB memory card in your camera, as long as it's an SD card.
If you get that message, it means you haven't formatted the card for use in that camera. You have to format the card in the camera before you use it.
Even though the solution was not what you prpbably wanted, don't let it stop you from rating it a fixya. I would appreciate it. Let me know if I can help you with anything else, and thanks for coming to FixYa.

Hello,
here is a easier way to view your pictures.....
if your running Windows Xp or Vista great.
select your menu button on the backof the camers , then Shooting menu, then Set up, scroll down to Interface, then USB, select mass storage. press menu to exit.
turn your camera on after you connect the USB cable to your computer and camera.
a new hardware wizard should be active, Xp & vista provides the drivers and a one time deal. your camera turns into a removable hard drive or like a jump drive.
you should click on the camera icon and see the contents of the camera.
Dont forget if you have the photos on the camera's built in chip, you can only delete the photos on the camera with the delete button on the camera.
Or if you have a removable SD card you can delete the photos as viewed on your PC (like a removable hard drive or jump drive).

hello
are you using a removable SD memory card?
check to see if your card is compatible with your camera.
the card maybe corrupt or may need formatting, try that after you back your pictures, movies up.
if the SD card was bought on auction site, may be a counterfeit. (the legit cards have serial numbers on them)

Does the camera have internal memory? The folder name might not match the folder you or the camera are looking for. REmove mem card and see if the pics are still on the camera, if so, then try again without the card in. try and see the card in "mass media storage" mode on your PC. Reformat the card in the camera after you get the pics off to reset the folder name.
