I have a 110,000 btu reddy heater model r110. When i plug it in it just makes a buzzing noise? I am pretty good at fixing things so i took off the top, the fan on the motor turns freely when its not plugged in but when i plug it in it buzzes and the fan barely moves so i used a board to try and turn it while the motor was buzzing and its hard to turn. i took the filter apart and cleaned everything spotless down to the graphite blades but nothing worked. before i cleaned it, when it started the problem, i had the top off and was shooting pool, when i broke a rack for 9 ball the cue ball jumped off the table and hit directly on the motor so i decided to plug it in to see if that fixed it lol. well, it worked so i unplugged it, put the top back on, and plugged it back in and unfortunately in just buzzed again so i took the top back off and hit the motor with the **** of my pool cue and plugged it back in and it worked again, unfortunately for the last time:( i've tried everything!!! but it still just buzzes when i plug it back in! PLEASE HELP???!!!

Steven, I thoroughly enjoyed your thorough explanation of what and how it e. Really, the best I have ever read, so far.

What may have happened it that the fan sensor may need readjusting or resetting. In case you have misplaced your Owners Manual, I have included a link to it that you can download and print for future reference. Pay particular attention to Pages 6 & 7, as well as the Troubleshoot Guide. If all else fails, get a bigger hammer! Just kidding. If you find you need any replacement parts, you can order them directly for www.masterdistributors.com

Owners Manual link below.

Hope this helps you solve the problem.

The R110 is a spark plug heater, as you know. It does not have the sophisticated electronics that the newer heaters have.

My guess: SP heater runs 30 seconds & shuts down- bypassphotocell. If it runs fine, then the photocell is defective. The test is simpleIf the photocell proves to be good follow these troubleshooting tips

Reddy Heater will not ignite flame

Please answer the following questions. There are several folks on the board that can help but we need to know some vital information so we can get started. Answer these, if you can:
  1. Which Pro 110 do you have. We need the exact model number. Pro 110 is a series of heaters.
  2. Does the heater have a spark plug or a glowbar (HSI)?
  3. When the motor runs is it pumping fuel?
  4. When the motor runs is the spark plug firing (or glowbar glowing)?

110,000 kerosene heater wont work

All of this model heater use a triac to turn on the motor. The buzzing you hear is because the triac is only turned on half the time due to a component defect on the control.

Replace the control.

or

If you are good with a soldering iron, replace the component labeled "OC2" on the circuit board. This is the optical isolator that caused the triac to "half-wave". Component is a MOC3023
