I was watching my TV last night and the screen went to grey. I tried other channels and they appear with the station but the screen remains grey. I can get a picture through the DVD recorder and it records shows ok. any idea what is wrong? not sure if something on the Sony DVD has been pressed accidentally?

Generally in these cases that means it's a faulty cable or loose connection.

On LCD's if the screen dies or anything internally for that matter, the screen would stay black. Grey means a signal is coming through, but it's being able to receive it.
Solution:

Check your cables for any loose connections or try alternate cables going to your tv set.

Hope that helps. If you need anymore help let me know :)

15mf400t/37 scans for channels but screen remains white with snow and cannot access any channels.

Unfortunately, this monitor/TV is not equipped with an ATSC (digital) tuner. It has an NTSC tuner. To watch over-the-air content, you'll need a converter box with either composite or RF out. See the specification sheet here: https://www.p4c.philips.com/files/1/15mf400t_37/15mf400t_37_pss_.pdf .

I hope this helps. The few low power stations that were able to continue broadcasting NTSC signals for a while after the digital switch either have lost or will soon lose their broadcast license.

NO Picture or Sound

sounds like someone rolled over on the remote. if you have cable or a dish, the tv channel must be left on a specific station at all times. no matter what channel is on the cable, the television itself must be on the correct channel number in order to receive he signal from the cable company. try hitting the last channel recall button on the tv, not the cable. otherwise try channel 3 or 4 or sometimes 60 on the tv. good luck

Black box appears in TV screen

The problem with the black box happened to me. I had pushed the subtitle button on my remote by mistake. Interestingly enough, as soon as I pushed the SUBTITLE key again, on the remote, the black boxes disappeared.

It also says CC which means closed captioned-- So the bottom on my remote is Subtitle, and then on the subtitle button is cc...

I hope this helps

Big black box in the middle of the screen

The black box is there because your closed captioning is on and set to text mode. Some channels send the signal even when there is no actual text to display. You can get rid of it by either turning off closed captioning or changing it to CC1 or CC2 mode instead of text. If you can't find those settings, then restore factory settings as directed in your user manual.

No pic but sound :/

You are having a high voltage problem. Quite possibly in the horizontal deflection. I would check the horizontal output and regulator transistors.

TV or Satellite Box Problem?

Do you have a VCR or DVD recorder? If yes, set it to record what you are watching. After a "blackout" rewind the tape and review it. If there is a blackout on the tape, the problem is the sallite box, if not, it is the TV! QED
