You must always install the device drivers with the device disconnected. Now you must first uninstall the drivers from the laptop (with the printer disconnected) from control panel->Add remove programs. Reboot the laptop and then reinstall the drivers. After that you connect the printer and allow Windows to auto detect it and load the drivers.
