Hi there I too use to use a hardwired router with TalkTalk and I also bought Netgear DG824G wireless router but all I did was to telephone Netgear (great service!) and they talked me thorugh it in about 15 minutes no problem so I advise you to do the same if you haven't done so already. Basically I had to connect my PC with the ethernet cable for it to initalise then when I removed the cable it was wireless!! Netgear will help you just give them a call. Just search Google for the number, good luc, Ken.

All you should need to do is go through the basic setup screens and enter your talk talk username and password - the rest of the settings should remain as default.
If you can logon to your old router, have a look at all the settings and copy them down to enter into the new router.
Let me know if you still have problems (I'm on talktalk too)

Using Netgear DG834 ADSL Modem, want to add a netgear WNDR3700 Wireless Router to act as an assess point

The simplest way to add more ethernet ports is to use a network hub and connect it to the Netgear DG834 instead of the Netgear WNDR3700. This does not require any configuration.

The dsl light keeps flashing green or yellow on my netgear dg834 v5 router n i cant get on internet but it works with my netgear dg834 dg834 v2

The fact that it works ok with the dg834 v2 means you have a DSL enabled line and also connection to the internet
You also have all the configuration details within the V2 Router - you will need to know your ISP account password
Now on the V5 router - do a factory reset - theres a small hole at the back of the router 1. Press and hold the Default Reset button until the Test LED turns on (about 10 seconds). 2. Release the Default Reset button and wait for the router to reboot.

Make sure that you configure the wireless settings of the router. Connect your computer to the SSID that you will create.

Netgear wireless router DG834PN wireless access local only I can get internet on my desktop which is connected to the router via ethernet but I can connect to the router wirelessly on my laptop but only...

With Vista on the Laptop it should be just a matter of double clicking the router in the network settings, vista should automatically configure the connection.
This has happened to me before and this is what I did just to see if it worked, and it did flawlessly.

Netgear dg834gt

I experienced a similar problem with a Vista laptop a few weeks ago. There were no apparent problems, so I uninstalled the wireless network adapter from the Windows "device manager" and then let it automatically reinstall the wireless adapter when it rebooted. The local wireless network appeared about 5 minutes after the reboot and has been working ever since. Hope this idea helps!
