I have several Sony dhg-hdd500's with the latest firmware updates. Last Sept the clock and TV Guides stopped working and I contacted Sony about another upgrade. They contacted Comcast and determined the problem is with the Comcast signal. I have relatives in other areas of the country that are also on Comcast and their DVR's are working fine. The problem appears to be w/Comcast, only in Houston, however they "never have problems" with their cable service...and it's never their fault. They are sending out a crack technician today. Chuck

Sometimes this problem happens to me when strong winds blow my antenna out of the orientation. Please adjust the antenna and see if it helps.

Yes, you can. There are different ways of going about it. There's an ongoing thread in the AVS Forum specifically with these Sony DHG units, now that the TV Guide System (ROVI) has been discontinued - which these Sony units relied on the Guide data to set the clock:

Since the last update on sept 21 i cant sign in to the playstation network and get error codes of 80710102 and 80023017.it was working fine til the update

There has been a problem with the latest Sony update, it unfortunately is causing people to be unable to log into thier Playstation Network accounts. Sony are working on a fix and will hopefully have it sorted very soon.

I purchased this useless Sony Dream Machine ICFCL75I 5 months ago. First time the freezing problem happened within a month after the purchase. Then machine hangs and thus cause the alarm not to go off....

Have the same issue and this works for me, Unplug the unit and plug it back in at least once a week. I've been doing this for over a year and a half and it hasn't froze up on me. This was an expensive piece of ****, because of this I won't buy Sony again.

I own 3 of these. Two of them have been hooked up for over 3 years and worked perfectly until yesterday. All of a sudden, the remote wouldn't work and I couldn't turn the unit off with the power button. ...

If you are using these DVRs over the air only, with 1.2.06 installed you have to run the G* Test in the 9012 menu, to get the digital data going, after removing power. That is why your clocks are --:--. I highly recommend that you update the firmware in both of these units to 1.2.21, to avoid having to mess with the G* Test.

The TV Guide On Screen guide will not appear if you connect the unit to your television using composite or S-Video cables and the progressive scan option is selected.

My remote doesn't work when recording.

I have the same problem with my dvr. I went to tech support at sony. The tech spent a lot of time researching the problem. I had to leave so I told him to email me when he had some information. It's been 3 days now and I havent heard from him yet.
