Acer Aspire One Netbook Logo
Anonymous Posted on Mar 07, 2011

My acer aspire one is able to boot, I'm able to log in, but from here on the only thing that actually loads is the time. You can move the mouse, but you can't access any menus, clicking does nothing, and nor does pressing any keys.

How long have you waited? Is it loading just REALLY slow? This could be spyware, adware or a virus.. possibly a new piece of software you installed? If you rebooted and repeatidly press the F8 key it should allow you to enter safe mode to resolve any issues with spyware/adware (spybot: http://www.safer-networking.org/index2.html)

THANK YOU! THANK YOU SO MUCH! The safe mode didn't quite cut it, but the tapping F8 was really helpful because it allowed me to select the last known configuration that worked and I selected that and it WORKED! again, thank you!

press and hold f8 then turn on the machine

that will force windows into safe mode

    log in as your user

press start, press run (if using xp) or type into search msconfig for 7 starter

open up system configuration utility and navigate to services
click hide all microsoft services and disable everything else

    navigate to startup

    disable anything you dont reconise

    hit apply

    let it restart

    log in as normal

dowload and get malewarebytes (free version)

    let it istall and run

it should clear your machine of any viruses

    when compete

    restart

    login

    again msconfig

renable anything you need in both services/startup

you machine should be just fine

most of those acers came with a lot of **** installed that startups up in the background.,that combined with malware can really slow a machine down

Seen this before and the only solution that seemed to work was to log on (use a usb mouse) and create a new admin account in users, Log off and log back on with the new account... worked for me and i then downloaded fresh touchpad drivers. , copied the files from the old account to the new one

Frozen keyboard & mouse on Acer Notebook

You may have a motherboard failure problem. I would ask you to check the drivers and update them but will be hard to do if you can't get past load screen. You best bet may to get a copy of system recovery and boot pc with the disk installed. Wipe computer completely clean and reinstall windows.

Start up problem Acer 3100 Aspire

Ok, the first thing is to load the BIOS default settings.
Then, set the cd-rom as the first boot device, and try to start windows setup from cd.
If it loads and detects the hard drive, the it is promising.
Another way to check your system for working capability would be to use a Linux cd (kubuntu is perfect for this) and see if it loads and works correctly. The interface is very similar to windows, so you will not have prblems using it. And it has also a MEM Test as a booting option, wich I reccomend you to use.

Acer Aspire 5050 Won't Boot.

Your problem could be windows vista isnot installed properly
i assume in the beginning, your laptop come with windows xp.
if you want to go back to windows xp, you can still use alt+f10, as long as you don't delete the recover partition.
Just boot and press Alt+F10, it'll give you recover screen.

Its on but just has a blank screen ??

First see if it will boot in the Safe Mode, pressing F8 when the computer starts up. Choose Safe Mode in the boot option. If it will boot in the safe mode. Restart the computer and press F8 again and select Start in the last known configuration. Hopefully
this will fix the problem. If not and you are running XP Pro, boot in the safe mode and do a restore. you get there by clicking Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore, choose a date that the computer was working and click Restore.
