Ok, you should not disconnect the player if any program using it is still running. It may cause damage to your player. Please close all the programs first and then disconnect it.

Hope this helps.

Is there a way to manually make your mp3 player to charge? I know that having your mp3 player plugged into a USB is suppose to do it but all I'm getting is USB Connected on my screen.

Hello,

When the player is empty, it will need to charge for 8 hours to become completely full. Using a laptop see to it that the computer is not switching to sleep or hibernating mode, else the power on the USB ports will be switched off.

Since the player shows being connected, the device can be linked
with the cable in 2 ways. The mode can be set in the menu. When MTP mode is not available the player will connect in MSC mode:
  1. MSC mode: the computer sees the player as a removable disk, the player can be seen using the Windows Explorer:Before disconnecting in MSC mode always go through safely remove hardware.Resetting the player may be required when the player freezes: disconnect the player and gently reset the player on the back side with a narrow pointed object, e.g. paperclip.
  2. MTP mode: there's software installed on the computer like Coby Media Manager or Windows Media Player 10 or higher. The software can be used for making transfers between computer and player.

Cannot tell when sansa mp3 player is fully charged.

Make sure the hold switch is not engaged - it will interfere with the charging process. Here is a link to the full user's manual:

Philips mp3 player sa6045

This player shows the "Do not disconnect" message when it is doing something critical such as transferring tracks or updating firmware, which could corrupt the player if disconnected part way through.

The player shows the "OK to disconnect" when it is idle. As the message says, it's ok to disconnect, as the player will not corrupt if disconnected when it is idle.

These messages mean that the player does not need the "Safe to remove" procedure.

It is ok to disconnect part way through charging. Also the player will condition the battery once it is fully charged, so it's ok to leave it charging.

Occassionally batteries can "memorise" when constantly disconnect and reconnected without fully charging and discharging. To help prevent this, fully discharge the player (leave on until dead) and fully charge and condition (leave charging for about 12 hours) every couple of weeks or so.
