what is the command in MS Dos to restore the backup files to windows XP???
Hi
are you trying to do a factory restore to factory settings or just backing up files or do you want to make a system image
I have used the acer eRecovery Management and did restore operating system to the factory defaults and retain user data. Files are transferred to C:\ backup1. But how can I get back my files??? Or is this not possible. Thank you so much for your help and your quick reply because I really don't know what to do anymore.
Hi
when you did the restore can you not remember where you saved the user data ????
did you not write it down so that you could remember?
Did you use windows xp files and settings transfer wizard to save your files and data if so
i think this is what you do
click on your start tab bottom left
all programs
accessories
system tools
files and setting transfer wizard
new computer
next
click in the box i dont need the wizard disk
next
now select the place where you saved the files to eg a spare hard drive or dvd/dvds
and direct to the hard drive or dv/dvd by putting thhe dvd/dvds in in the correct order or by plugging in the spare hard drive
i do hope you can remember where you saved the data
good luck
please let us know how you get on

I would suggest first you DO NOTHING on the laptop. Depending how important they are you could overwrite them while using the machine.
As for data recovery, stellar pheonix has a free trial. I suggest you use that.
Shoot me an e-mail and i can help you get this fixed.

http://support.acer.com/ look up tech support call them and let them know that you lost your restore disk and they will mail you a copy.
Consider what data you still need from your Acer Aspire One's hard drive. Save the files to an external USB device.
Restart the Acer Aspire One's operating system. Wait for the Acer logo to appear on the LCD screen.
Press the "Alt" and "F10" keys at the same time to bring up the recovery menu. Press "Enter."
Click "Next." Follow the prompts that appear on the screen to restore the operating system back to factory settings.
Use the drop-down boxes to select the time zone and language information for your Acer Aspire One. Restart the netbook when you are prompted to finish restoring the computer.
Connect the external USB device to your Acer Aspire One and transfer the data you saved earlier back to the netbook.
