Sounds like you broke the belt

The bushing in the back of the dryer is probley bad. to check and see take the top loose and look on the back of the dryer and see if the bushing is loose or out. to replace it you have to pull the drum. there also could be some screws on the back of the dryer holding it on.

Not sure what brand or model your dryer is but it sounds like the belt is broken, so you'll need to lift the top of the dryer up and very this.

open the dryer door and maunually spin the drum around. if it spins relatively easily, then it sounds like the drive motor is going bad. the windings open up and it stops. sounds like you need a new motor. it may be cheaper in the long run to get a new dryer

yes it is, its the rear tub bearing. pain in the butt to change but that will solve it

Ususally knocking is a sign that the rubber belt which spins the dryer tub is old and has hardened. If the knocking sound gets quieter after you have run the dryer for 30 minutes or so, then the belt is the problem. As the dryer turns, it heats up the rubber belt and makes the belt more pliable. This quiets the knock. I have seen dryers work fine for years, knocking the whole time. Have the belt replaced if the sound bothers you.
