Install my printer, have a message about USB port MALFUNCTION in my printer BROTHER DCP7020 laser

Hello, Jorge.

It would help to know "exactly" what the error message states, such as "The USB Device Not Recognized" or something like that. Here are a couple of things to try in order to narrow down the problem source:
1. Try a different USB connection on the computer. If that one works, the problem is probably that other connection port.
2. If none of the ports work with the printer, try a different USB-powered device, such as a cell phone and charging cable. If it works, the problem lies with the printer/computer connection (more likely the printer).
3. If none of the USB ports work, the problem might be your USB port itself. Go to "Device Manager" (in Control Panel), then look for "Universal Serial Bus controllers." Check to see if any have a disabled symbol. Check under "Properties" that device status is: "This device is working properly." If not, try updating the drivers (under the "Driver" tab).

Xp freezes when usb hard drive pluged in

Hello here is the homepage:

http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=P5S800-VM&p=1&s=22

If any drivers is needed.

Try to enter the device manager, and look for faults.

It sounds like the USB ports, in the computer don't provide enough power.
Does the external HDD have its own Power supply ?
Do other USB devices work ?
Maybe the pc`s power supply is running out of power, when you connect the usb harddrive.
How much ram, do you have installed ?
I suggest at least 1 gb of ram, 2 gb is better.
What service pack have you installed ?
You need at least service pack 1, to support the usb function.

Try to run ccleaner:

http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

And make a registry clean.

A final option could be upgradeing the bios.
If the above does not help.

You just have to be very carefull, when upgrading the bios.

If you don`t have any experience with that, let a expert do this for you.

Good luck

Dell inspriation N5010 laptop this laptop all usb port is not working . laptop purchising in 3month and windows 2007 operating system instaled what is problem please sole the problem

If USB devices such as jump drives, digital cameras, or printers are no longer functioning properly when connected to your laptop, the USB ports may have malfunctioned. There are plenty of troubleshooting steps you can complete on your own to get the port up and running properly again.

1.Connect the USB device into a different USB port on the laptop or another computer to make sure the problem isn't with the device instead of the port. Check to see if the device has a "Write-Only" tab. Push that tab into the unlocked position if it still isn't working in a different port.
2.Click "Start" and then "My Computer" if the device works in another computer but not on your laptop. Plug a device into the port and wait to see if the USB port shows up in the list of drives. Click on "Map Network Drive" if the drive does not appear. Choose a drive letter from the drop down menu and then double click the location of the USB device. Click "OK" and try to use the port again.
3.Navigate back to the Start menu and then click "Control Panel." Double click on "Device Manager." Scroll down the list of options and click the "+" located to the left of the entry labeled "Universal Serial Bus Controllers." Double click the name of the USB port that appears in the new menu. Click the "Drivers" tab and then click "Update Drivers." Wait for the driver to finish downloading and attempt to use the port again.
4.Close the drivers tab and right click the name of the USB port. Click on "Properties." Click the "Power Management" tab and then un-check the check box labeled as "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power." Choose the "Communications Port" tab and then scroll down to the box labeled "Resources." Click the "Enable Device" button and then click "OK." Attempt to use the USB port again.
5.Close the Properties tab and right click the name of the USB port. Click on "Uninstall." Restart the laptop and then plug a device into the USB port. Wait for a new window to pop up and follow the on-screen instructions to re-install the USB port software.
6.Restart the computer and press the "F1" button on the laptop's keyboard once the manufacturer's name appears on the screen. Scroll down through the list of options that appear and highlight the option labeled as "Advanced." Press "Enter" and then scroll down and press "Enter" on the "USB Support" option. Press "F10" to save the settings and finish loading the operating system.
7.Open your web browser if your laptop is running the Windows XP operating system. Navigate to the Microsoft website and download the Windows XP USB 2.0 driver (see link in Resources). Restart the computer and try to use the USB port again.

I hope you find it very helpful. Best regards.

Before using your USB, scan it for viruses, also run antivirus scan on your entire system. After antivirus scan, clean Windows registry using some reliable software such as Reginout. Now attach the device. Thanks

Possibly a bad mouse.  Either try another mouse on that same port or try that mouse on another computer.  If you want to, try that mouse on another USB port on your computer
