I have an RCA model 20V500T television. There is an arcing noise coming from inside the back of the television. When this noise occurs a couple lines appear and disappear on the television screen. What is causing this to occur and how do I fix?

This is the Famous 3 strikes and out for RCA's--it tries to come on 3 times and if fails shutdown occurs.

The high pitched sound may be a short or could be something arcing--if the sound comes from near the very front of set--could be the HV splitter this set has arcing.

Most likely noise is coming from the power supply. You should be able to locate the source if the lower back panel is removed. Try to keep light away while you are checking since the arcing could be occurring because of a failed solder joint at a point of fairly high power and this may even be visible.

buzzing noise is cause by small electrical arc inside the unit or a problem in your audio circuit.if you can open the unit up and check if its an electrical arc.

Try unpluging for five ninutes the after plugging back in press and hold power button for 10 seconds...this should reset it!

Need more Info. Try moving the cable connection on back of TV.

The part is known as a flyback transformer.. it will have to be replaced.. also the horizontal ouput transistor will possible most likely be bad..

Try , Horizontal or Vertical output.
