I have the same problem, but what's the solution??? How can it be hung up on something when we just turned it on??

  • Anonymous Jul 25, 2008

I tried the cleaning instructions. It made no difference. I'm not sure how having a slightly smudged glass would prevent the printer from powering up anyway. I left the power off all night. I continue with the same symptoms. No power on light. Hour glass on the screen. The hour glass/logo are lit for eight seconds, then go black for two seconds, then back on. At the eighth second there is one muffled click, the screen goes black. Two clicks, then the screen comes back on. The "Clicks" are coming from the little vented box next to where the power cord plugs in.
I have tried every combination of resets. #3,#6,#9 will bring up a partial white screen saying "Full reset" etc. But nothing happens. Reset/cancel? Nothing. Pressing the "on" button does nothing, UNLESS I hold the "on" button down a while then all four function buttons (copy, fax, scan, photo) start flashing and the screen goes blank. Pushing the flashing buttons does nothing. While they are flashing, if I push down the "on" button the flashing function buttons stop flashing but resume flashing when I release the "on" button. It takes a reboot (power off) for the function buttons to stop flashing and for the screen to return to the hour glass.
I'm certain this is due to the power outages we had yesterday during a storm.
When this started the scan tray was in the far right position. When I cleaned the glass I pushed the scan tray to the center, thinking it might realign it self upon power up. It did not move. Also, when I open the front the printer cartidge sled does not move to center but stays locked in the far right position.

I also have reinstalled the software and ran an update.

I've got a lot of work to do. I'm hoping for a quick home cure, otherwise this goes in the trash and I have to drive 50 miles to buy a new one.
    Thanks,
    Ken

Hi
Have been through many possible solutions for this and finally got it to clear by holding down the setup button while I switched on the power.

It is all a bit random though: last week, 9 & # worked so I suspect that there is something more fundamental going on underneath.

No error codes whatsoever, only a continuous display of the hourglass waiting symbol :-(

  • Anonymous Sep 15, 2008

I think that Ken might be right about the root cause being power outages. When I have managed to get it reset and working, the next storm or power outage causes the problem to re-appear. I have worked through #9, #6 etc and each of them worked....once. I have now run out of things to try and like you, will have to replace it. I am loath to do so though as it's otherwise a good bit of kit that has worked well with no problems for three years.

It probably is. When you turn on a printer the machine goes thru a power on reset. Th main board checks different areas of the machine. You should be getting an error code are you?

Kenmore dryer Tub will not turn freely. Feels as if it's hung up. When you you press the start button it will just make a humming noise.

Hi,
A guess, sounds like you are hearing the motor running but no tub belt as it is probably broke. If you are asking then you probably don't know how to fix it so you should call a repairman. Or the tub guides are wore out either way a repairman can help.

Grinding sound SA8605x

Sounds like machine may have activated flood switch- this makes the dishwasher drain continously, which results in a grinding noise once the machine has no more water to pump out.
The flood switch is located in the base of machine- you need to remove bottom front panel to acces (disconnect from power first!!).
Once panel is removed, check:
-Is there water in the base? If so, machine has had a leak- clear water, restart, and locate + repair leak.
-If no water in base, it may have air lock in pressure tube. There is a small clear tube that goes to round flood switch on base of machine- remove tube and blow thru. Reassemble and test machine.

Only attempt if you a confident DIYer- if in doubt, call an expert (you can sometimes make an easy repair an expensive one)
