To view the wireless security key info, you'll need to access the router's set up page. If you left it at the default address - that will be 192.168.0.1. You would enter that number and decimal points into the address box of your browser. I'm assuming that you have access via wireless signal - and simply need to know what the info is for use on another device. If you are not able to connect wirelessly, you'll need to use a computer that is connected by a network cable to the same network.

After accessing the setup page at 192.168.0.1 (or the page you changed it to from the default), you'll be prompted to log in by supplying user name and password credentials. Again, if you haven't changed from the default settings, enter "admin" (no quotes) for the user name and "password" (no quotes) for the password boxes.

If you are not able to get to the set up page because you changed it or you're unable to recall the login credentials, you will have to perform a master reset on the router. More on this, later.

Once logged in, click the Wireless link in the main menu of the browser interface. The Wireless Settings menu will appear. At the bottom of the page, the wireless security options and keys are presented.

A master reset is a last resort to access the settings of the router. If you do not know the IP address or user name and password info, this will be the only way back into the set up options of the router. A master reset will erase all custom settings and replace them with default values - like when it left the factory. This is done by pressing the recessed reset button on the back of the router - between the WAN and LAN ports. Press and hold the Reset button until the Test LED turns on (approx 10 seconds). The router will then reboot with the default operating settings.

You can download the manual for free, here.

Cant get my netgear to work at all. tried re setting it and it stil wont work

to configure the netgear router. . . . 1, first make sure that your laptop is connected directly to the netgear router via ethernet cable. 2. after securing step 1, on your computer, open browser, ( internet explorer or firefox ) 3. go to the address bar, the one with the http:\\ and erase everything inside it. 4. type in there, 192.168.1.1 or www.routerlogin.net. 5. username is " admin " password is " password " 6. you would see netgear set up wizard. 7. for wireless configuration, click wireless settings on the left side of the set up wizard. 8. you can edit network name, and get your network security key under security options. make sure to choose WPA PSK TKIP. so that you can have a personalize network key and make sure its 8 characters long. 9. the network security key is the " passphrase " then click apply. then your all set for wireless connectivity.

How do i get my security code for my netgear WGR614v9

Hello,

The default security key will be printed at the base of the router. If you have not changed the default security keys then you can use it. If you have changed it then you will have to log in to router interface and retrive your security keys.

Hope this helped.

Where do I find the security key for netgear wireless g router WGR614v9-serial number *1W91867RO33ES* as I wish to install a usb wireless adapter on my wife's computer

The encryption key is a security key. The encryption key is configured in the Netgear's wireless setting. To get these settings ie. the SSID and the WPA or WPA2, open a browser and type the Netgear's configuration URL - http://192.168.0.1
The default login = admin
The default PW = password
Then go to the wireless settings to get this information.
This SSID and WPA or WPA2 encryption key is then used to configure the USB wireless adapter so it can connect to the Netgear.

I have wireless network Netgear / lost security key

Log into your router ( default log in details can be found by googling your make) if you have changed the log in details, you may need to reset the router to factory default ( again, google this for a how to)
Go to wireless settings and then security ( or the other way around depending on your model) and your key will be there

I need the security key to my existing wireless netgear router.

The Security Key is normally used for Wireless routers to protect your connection from any unauthorized use. As you have said that you do not have the Security key for your router with you, the best way to connect your ACER laptop to the Netgear router is by asking your Wireless service provider to reset the security key & freshly reentering the same on both of your HP & ACER laptops.

NETGEAR WGR614v7 Network Security key

Hi, you need to connect to the routers admin pages to configure the wireless settings and security. Check out this page:-
http://kbserver.netgear.com/kb_web_files/n101676.asp

When you get to step 6, click the WPA-PSK security setting and it will give you a box to type in a password of your choice, make it memorable but difficult to guess, so a mixture of numbers and letters. I think its a min of 8 characters.
Hope this helps..

I cant connect thru my netgear router model wgr614v7

If you hook your PC directly to the router using an Ethernet cable you don't need the key. You can log into the router and change the WEP Key to anything you want, but u have to be directly connected to the router not going through the wireless.
