Monitor has power. Will come on very briefly and the go to black screen. Can turn power off and back on and get the same above result.After a 2-3 hour period may come to life...may not.

faulty connector... need to call a repair guy to solder a connection.. usually 50 bucks

First, verify the monitor is functional.
Monitor STFC (Self Test Feature Check)
Turn off the monitor
Plug the monitor power cord directly into the wall socket to remove any
surge protectors or APCs from the troubleshooting equation
Unplug the monitor video cable from the back of the computer
Turn on the monitor
The floating dialog box should appear on screen against a black background.
If the issue appears during the STFC, the monitor is defective.
What are the results please?

If tried the monitor on two other computers with the same result -- definitly your monitor is faulty. Take it to the repair shop. To make double sure, run your computer with another monitor. If everything is fine now; you can blame the monitor.

The power -inverter board probably needs an overhaul.
I redo many of these.
If the screen was pinkish or flickering before it finally got to this point, it is possible that a bulb has gone bad.

I am not familiar with your particular model, but I do know what the problem is.
The inverter that runs the lights behind the screen is faulty and needs to be repaired. The lights shine from the top and bottom and reflect outwards through the panel so you can see what is on the screen. If you start the computer up, then shine a bright light into the panel you will see an image on the screen, but very feintly.
This can be cheap, it can also be expensive depending on where you go to get it repaired. Call aorund to a few TV shops in your area to get a rough idea on prices.

Ok based on just the monitor turning off Lets try this,,
FOR WINDOWS XP
1.) Right click on your desktop
2.) Choose properties
3.) Click on the screen saver tab
4.) Click power
5.) Set The POWER SCHEME to Home/Office Desk
6.) Set the Turn Off monitor to Never
7.) Set the Turn Off hard disk and system Stand By to never
8.) Click apply then ok
9.) Repeat steps 1 - 3
10.) Set the wait time to 30 minutes
11.) Click Ok
12. Shut down and restart your system and wait 30 minutes to see if the monitor will shut off if it doesnt then Your good to go
If it does Then disable the screen saver.. and wait half hour to see what happens

POST BACK HERE AND TELL ME YOUR RESULTS OF THE ABOVE SO WE CAN TRY SOMETHING ELSE

Hi Esdee, Don't be too surprised if the monitor is having problems. The fact that it does the same thing on another PC is pretty good proof that is in fact the monitor. As far as what is going on the green power LED going on and off in conjunction with the blackouts indicates a power problem to me. - Does wiggling the power cords, plugs cause any change? - When the screen blacks out shine a flashlight on the screen and look to see if you can see any faint images. If you do then you have a backlight problem. If none of this works any further troubleshooting really requires some experience working around electronics and high voltage.
