Had a broil element that caught on fire in a GE #JKP60G002 oven/microwace combo. Ordered part #WB44X173 to replace the broil element. When I removed the broil element I forgot to mark which wires went together. The broil element has two terminals however, there's three wires [(1)-red, (1)-black, (1)-blue. I'm not sure which two wires I should group together on the same terminal. I do have the wiring diagram from GE for the oven but I still can't figure it out. Thanks for the help, Levi

The blue and red go together. And the black is separate.

How do I replace the bottom element of my GE oven?

Hundreds of GE ovens, so can't give procedure, but problem is not necessarily the element - could be switch, connection to element, etc. Google GE (model #) lower element not heating.

Our GE JKP14 Oven's Burner Element caught on fire. A small bit of it. Turning the oven off did nothing, but once we turned off the circuit breaker the fire instantly went out.

call in an electrician as turning off the switch should have stopped the fire
There may be a problem in the way it is wired up.

The broil unit in the upper oven of a GE double oven does not work. The heating unit has continuity, 17.5 ohms, when connected, but that should be the resistance of the unit itself with all switches off....

the broil element doesn't get 240 volts,it's 120.also you should have the oven unplugged, pull out the element and read it out or at least one wire has to be removed from the part you're checking for continuity

Oven doesn't go on.

Hi.

If both baking and broiling element do not heath above a certain temperature instead, then the part to be replaced is the temperature probe, still located inside the oven cavity.

If the part that is not heating is only one element, then you may need to replace the element.
Before replacement the element can be tested removing it from the cavity and reading Ohms at the element terminals, with a multimeter set at Rx1. Disconnect power before removing the element.
In this case, selecting only baking or only broiling (depending on what element is faulty), the oven will work normally.

If the oven is a gas oven, then you have no element. In that case if the oven burners are working, replace the temperature sensor.

If replacing the temperature sensor does not help, then replace the oven electronic control.

Dual Oven - upper oven bake element replaced but no heat from it

Usually no internal fuses, and most of the time the controller is rated for fault interupt current.... age will degrade them though...

How did you change the element without pulling out the stove? is it a 'click/plug' in? might be that the socket is messed up...

You should not have to disassemble the cabinet, should just be a few screws and the unit slides out... sometimes hidden behind small movable pannels..

Peace

GE Oven JTP15BW Broil Element on, Bake Element off during baking.

I have the same problem. Just swap the 2 wires that are marked as 'broil' and 'bake' on the controller board. But sometimes it switches back, then I have to swap the wires again.

You might want to leave the 'broil' post unconnected to prevent burning food..
