If you read the Philips support page for this problem it actually says "you have too many media files on the device"! Seriously.. This is a 4 GB player and I only have it half full and am experiencing the same problem. Unacceptable.

If you have just added a lot of songs, which usually happens on your first load, then 2 minute bootup/updating or longer is normal - the more songs you add in a sitting, the longer it will take to boot up.

It says file system error after i tried to change it to mtp so i could download vids

Take a look and see if it has a reset button hidden in the side or back a hole ...If it it (power on ) and after that push in that hole with a stylus or sharp object (ball point pen ) until it restarts..This should reset it to factory settings and make it work ..
If it do not has such a button you will have to open it and remove any power source to make it forget the settings ..or ....!!!!!!!!! get to the support site and download the firmware and reinstall it clean into the device ..cause the file error means it may be missing some important system files and it can not boot proper..

Hi, my mp3 player is not turning on. when i try to open it, the screen shows file system error

if your PC can show the removable disk drive you should format it. In this case all the folders and media files will be erased on your player.
If the PC can not see the player you could try to make firmware upgrade.
I think, this link will help you:

OK to Disconnect just means ur battery is full and no files are in transfer to the device. After changing battery, the device will update fora minute, if after a decent ammount of time goes by and nuthing happens, use a pin and hold down the reset button, forcing the device to power down, turn it back on and try to let it update again

File System Error

Try formatting it using FAT32 or NTFS file system. I formatted my SA2840 and changed the file system from FAT32 to NTFS (what was I thinking!) and the ending of the story was pretty much the same.

Philips Turns Back Off

Install and run the Philips Device Manager from the product CD.

Switch off the player.

Press and hold [VOL+] whilst connecting the player to the PC.

Device manager should report device error.

Follow on-screen prompts.

This should format the player and re-load the system files.
