First you have to check the counters to see how many pages were printed or copyed. It may be a problem with some of the color drum units. At this model you need to change the units near to 100.000 A4 prints with 5% coverage. If the coverage is greater, then you'll need to change them sooner. There might be another cause for the sound, like the Transfer Belt Unit. This unit has a "waste toner path" that might be jamed. The unit is not able to get rid of this waste toner and some gears produce that noise. The transfer belt unit is working separatly for black prints and color print. You will have to remove the Transfer Belt Unit and clean the toner path with a vaccum cleaner.
You most likely have done gradation simulation, strange that they are all light? All drums are new or in good %? have you changed out your transfer belt ITB?
It might be one of the part life had ended like fuser drum unit life ends or transfer belt unit life ends. Try to check this parts in the LCD screen in LAN setting. or PART LIFE. See if how much percent is their life parts.
Replacing this parts would normal bring your print out to good printing.
Or adjust the contrast setting in the control LCD menu screen to darker setting to make print out more darker.
Try slowing down the print speed to 2 ips. Then increase the speed. Usually, this is a problem of exceeding the limits of the printer. The faster you print, the weaker the print. With a ribbon that is matched to the label stock, you will have an optimum speed for best performance.
Transfer Belt Error Aproblem has occurred transfer belt in the machine. Unplug the power cord and plug it back in.If the problem persists Cleaning the inside of the sensor of the belt and then not change you change the blet assembly
I got a way to reset the transfer belt counter:
Just press Meny.button, then #{4-digit-password-number}# and follow this path: Techmode - DataSetup - Clear counts - Transfer belt Passord={4-digit-password-number}
The only time I saw a color laser Printing darker than normal the issue was tranfer belt. The condition you describe matches the problem I was involved in and the tranfer kit fixed the problem.
Hope this helps
