If you are referring to a Whirlpool Duet, Kenmore Elite or Maytag Epic series FRONT LOADER, each one of these washers comes with a technical data sheet inside.

To access, you will need to remove the lower toe panel under the door. The access screws are located under the bottom front edge of the panel. You may have to prop the two front feet of the washer up for better access ( a 2x4 works well for this). With the screws removed, the panel should drop down, then come off. If the tech sheet isn't directly behind the panel, it will be affixed to one of the interior cabinet walls.

The tech sheet lists all error code definitions, troubleshooting data, diagnostics procedures and WIRING DIAGRAMS.

If you have questions, please post back with your MODEL NUMBER and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

I have a whirlpool duet sport that is displaying F28 code. I have replaced the ccu unit now what do I do. It fills but will not wash, drains but will not spin HELP PLEASE!

For the F28 error code:
First, check the wiring harness connections to the MCU, the Motor, and the CCU. Make sure all the connections are tight and there are no ground wires off. Then check the connections of the CCU board within the housing.

If the wiring connections are fine then It would be a good idea to order both, as both components have been problematic for the error code F28.

Here is the CCU to order.

Error F28

The F28 code is a comm failure between the MCU and the CCU. First, check the wiring harnes connections to the MCU, the Motor, and the CCU. Make sure all the connections are tight and there are no ground wires off. Then check the connections of the CCU board within the housing.

Yes, I read a couple past members that diagnosed it as the MCU being the cause more than the CCU.

So you can order the MCU and/or the CCU, then I'd install the MCU first to see if that fixes it.

Our whirlpool elite washer keeps F11 erroring and FDL locking the door.

Hi.

FDL is door lock. This is the first part to be tested, since it can be symptom of a wiring problem.

The door lock is tested by reading impedance on the door latch contacts.
If the door lock is OK, do the following troubleshooting for F11. The problem is usually CCU.

F11 is communication error between CCU (main control unit) and MCU (motor control unit - additional control module connected to motor and to CCU, located in a sealed box inside the washer).

This usually means that either CCU or MCU is defective. In some case the connectors or the wiring harness connecting the two modules is the problem.

The tech sheet says:

F11:Serial Communication Error
Communication between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the Motor Control Unit (MCU) cannot be sent correctly.
Solution:
* Check Wire Harness connectors to the MCU, the motor, and Central Control Unit (CCU)
* Check the Drive system for any worn or failed components
* Check MCU
* Check CCU
* Check Motor
* Check Wire Harness

The wiring harness is tested using a multimeter to ensure that there is continuity between the MCU and CCU connectors. If a single wire is good it will read zero Ohms (closed) from contact to contact.
Motor is tested reading Ohms, it must be read about 6 Ohms on three different pairs of contacts.
Drive system in motor is checked observing if any of the parts are broken.
MCU and CCU are tested reading volts during operation and testing at component level. The testing must be done by a tech. Check CCU to see if there is any sign of failure (eg burnt spots).

Most of the time the problem is CCU. Trick to repair it include testing and eventually reheating the solder joint of the two on-board relays, cleaning connector contacts with circuit cleaner solution. This in case that the problem is CCU.

Disconnect the unit from power for five minutes as first test. This will reset CCU.

Washing machine will not turn on. yes i checked the outlet

Make sure that the outlet is working even though the breaker is okay. Plug a small lamp or appliance into the washer outlet to verify that it is working.

If the outlet apparently has power the plug the washer back in and listen carefully for a click from the CCU (Central Control Unit or main control board shown in the first image below). If you do not hear a click then I recommend that you unplug the washer and remove the top panel (shown in the first image below). Check the wiring harness connections on the control board. I provided a wiring diagram in the second image that shows the path of power to the CCU. If you have a volt/ohm meter and the technical expertise, you can check the continuity of the power supply to the control board (wires traced in red and green on wiring diagram below). If the CCU is apparently getting power but does not click shortly after it is plugged in then it will need to be replaced.

You could also have a failed user interface touchpad assembly that would prevent the washer from powering up.

These tips may help you determine the cause of this washer failure.

Washer displays an F11 error code. I replaced the MCU but still the F11 code. Wire harness is good.

Hi.

It is probably the CCU (main control). Wiring harness, motor and drive train must be checked before replacing the CCU.

Here full troubleshooting for F11.

Sometimes washer stops and gives f 11 i hit pause then start to finish load

F/11 is serial communication error code. It means the communication between the central control unit (CCU) and the motor control unit (MCU) is not good. Possible causes include worn or failed drive system components, faulty CCU or MCU, broken wiring harness, faulty drive motor, or faulty wiring harness connections in the CCU, the motor, or the MCU.

In your case, the problem is intermittent and it may indicate a glitch in the wiring harness connection between the MCU, CCU and the motor. The glitch may be due to a loose, soiled or oxidized terminal connection. Check and clean the terminals and connectors.
  1. Remove the three screws securing the top panel at the rear of the machine.
  2. Slide back the top panel then lift it off the machine.
  3. Lift the top plastic tabs of the central control unit (CCU) that are securing it to the back cabinet frame.
  4. Slide the CCU towards the front of the machine and remove it.
  5. Disconnect and clean the terminals and connectors one at a time.
  6. Reconnect the connectors properly and ensure a good connection with the terminals.
  7. Reinstall the CCU in reverse order of the above-mentioned procedure.
Access to the motor control unit (MCU) requires disassembly of the machine's front panel. Please let me know if the error code still appear and if you need to access the MCU and the motor.
