Mitsubishi VS-50705 convergence problem.

I have the service manual so I can get the part numbers and resistor information. What I'm looking for is which of all those resistors are the known ones to go bad. I have had several people respond with change the STK... convergence chips and the feeder resistors which I guess is the ones to the power lines. I'm not that good with schematics so I can't figure out which ones it would be. But if an expert whould reply R8C02 and R8C28 then I would know exatly which ones. I don't want to have to change all of them. Can you provide that detail?

It looks like the STK chips solved the issue. What happened after I replaced was they pulled off the heat sink and was over heating. My chasis the V7 has the 2 STK chips on a long single heat sink board. They are held in place via another metal cover with 2 screws. Something else to hold heat. Some other applications have seperate heat sink for each chip and has screws that hold them. So I removed the heat sink and then drilled holes for screws to hold the chips. I installed the heat sink and used screws to hold it to the circuit board since the plastic chasis was stipped. Then I screwed the chips to the heat sink and soldered the pins again. It appears to be working. We will see how long. If problem returns I'll ask my expert again.

Well I thought the STK chips detaching from the heat sink board was the issue when I re-attached via with screws. So I need to find the "feed resistors". You menitoned you did not have the manual for this chasis. I do. It is the V7. Is there a way to e-mail you the schematic or pcb .pdf's? Or attach to this issue on fixya? It must be one of those and I can't figure out which one. I attempted to test all the resistors and the ones I thought were the feeders measure the same as others on the board of the same type. What should I do?

There should only be a couple of STKs, the R's are resistors, they STKs should cost under $20. This should be everything you are looking for. If you need anything else, let me know.

I'm sorry, looking back it seems you already replaced the two STK chips, basically I can't be sure which resistors are bad, you should just test them all with a meter. I don't have the exact schematics for this particular tv and any resistor is a candidate for going bad. I hope this helps, I will see if I can find what ones commonly go bad but testing them is your best bet

Mitsubishi VS-50705 convergence problem.

Usually the capacitors will be around the convergence IC's near the heatt sinks. It should be easy to spot the busted capacitors, their tops will be bulging. Here is a sample pic:

Check the specifications of the faulty capacitors, and get the replacements from your local electronics shop. If you are comfortable with this, you can use a pair of needle nose pliers to G-E-N-T-L-Y pull out the defunct capacitors. Once that is done, solder in the new capacitors carefully. If are unsure how to do this, try to get a friend who knows how to do this kinda stuff do it for you. The capacitors are usually 680 - 1000 micro farad and 35V. however, if you dont find 35V, you could use a 50V as well. They will be slightly larger, but you should be able to get them to fit in.

HERE is a clear step by step procedure with pictures.
If your TV is still under warranty, then the best thing to do would be to take it back to the shop and get a replacement.

I have a Mitsubishi Rear Projection tv (vs-50705). The picture shows a concave image on the top and bottom of screen and the edges go off the screen. I have red blue and green ghost images on the screen...

Well, you did the right first step. However, when the convergence outputs toast up they sometimes cause other problems. First would be the fuses that supply them voltage. These are pico fuses back in the power supply. Second would be open supply resistors that have opened up because of the excessive current draw caused by the whacked out convergence amps. When changing the outputs doesn't solve the problem it takes the repair out of the realm of the do-it-yourselfer. My recommendation is to let a professional take over.

My Mitsubishi VS-50705 has an all over 3-D effect.

Yes it sounds to be convergence issue .

You have convergence problem in your tv . You need to replace convergence IC . YOu can get from the link below .

Convergence ICs

You need to replace both convergence ICs .It will cost you around $30 .
The IC number is STK392-110 .

Hope this helps .

Mitsubishi VS-50705 Red convergence off, vertical not adjustable

Your screen has gone crazy on you because your convergence IC's have gone bad.   These IC's operate at a very high temp, and usually only last 4-5 years.
If you remove the back of the set, you will want to look for the BIGGEST heatsink in there, on that heatsink, you will see 2 lage IC's , probably STK392-110, or STK392-150's or something close...regardless - you can go on ebay to order the new ones, but MAKE SURE they are Genuine SANYO IC's and not counterfiet cheapies. the cheap ones may only last 2 months..
You will also need some "Heat transfer paste" - you can pick this up at radio shack.   Once you remove the old IC's, test all the large resistors near them.. pull one side of the resistor out of the board so you can check it out of circuit. they will usually have the value in Ohms, printed directly on the resistor, but you may have to use the resistor color code to find out what value they are....However, usually if there is any damage, the resistor will look like it has been HOT or fried. replace the IC's and any bad resistors, and you should be good to go.   If after replacing the IC's and any defective resistors, the convergence is still bad, make sure to use a multimeter to check ALL fuses on the boards, --- sometimes when the IC's go, they will take out a fuse to the convergence power supply. If you find any bad fuses, replace them accordingly!   If this STILL doesnt make it look right, you will need to find out how to get into service mode and do a coarse convergence adjustment. This information can be found in the Service manual for your set. If you dont have one you can download it at servicemanuals.net   Hope that helps!

V-50705 convergence issue

Since the unit works on occasion, I'd be leaning toward a connection problem more so than a defective component. Go over the entire convergence board and resolder any connections that appear grainy or have rings. See if that has any effect on the behavior. If not, then we need to start looking at parts that are being effected by heat. Try to see if there is any particular pattern to when the problem begins. I don't have hte schematic with me at the moment. One other resource for you would be to visit techlore.com Post this question to Larry. He has the most experience with these sets.

Mitsubishi 50705

Good Day, tree64;
More than likely the convergence problem the TV has wont be resolved by adjustments. In your situation, moving TV, the problem most likely is poor solder connections on the convergence IC's. They are large devices attached to very large heat-sinks, and have numbers on the IC'c like STK 392-560.
If no poor connections....replce.
Good Luck, big IRISH.

Mitsubishi VS-50705 covergence problem.

Take the parts you want replaced into Radio Shack and they should be able to match them up quickly and sell you what you need. It should be fairly cheap too. If you still need the numbers let me know but this would be the best way to do this.

Mitsubishi VS-50705 50 in apparent convergence problem.

First thing a tech would do is solder around Convergence amps then check to see if you can align by menu then if can not. Change amps and maybe resistors.
