the model 1 genesis power cord works fine on the NES. but never use a NES cord on the Genesis

That’s because a NES uses AC and a Genesis uses DC. DC will work on a AC console but alas AC will fry a DC console.

So long as it is 9V + 500ma, and fits the end - any ac adapter will work. The Sega Genesis (v1) system will work fine on a NES system.

I bought a Sega Genesis Model 1 from a thrift store, and everything works great, but it looks like some one has turned the darkness up on my tv when i play games. I tried it with both the genesis RF and an...

Hi, get your hands on a new AV cable you will notice a great difference in picture quality compared to the RF switch. see www.gameoz.com.au as they stock the cable you require. They also can modify the console with a s-video out put which would be one of the best picture quality possable available from one of these retro consoles

Bad picture with Sega Genesis model 1

Taking your problem in a whole new direction, why don't you try purchasing an 8 or 9-pin (depending on the type of Genesis you have) DIN RCA cable. This will improve picture and sound, and you won't have to worry about malfunctioning RF converters. Your problem sounds like the RF adapters are inadequate.

Fuzzy picture on TV and NES when new RF adapter is cconnected

i had the same problem, and it was the rf unit itself. to resolve this problem i went to radio shack and purchased a special connecter. one side is an rca (male) to rf (female). when attached to a standard peice of cable wire, it acts as an rf unit. Also works with the sega genesis. hope that helped

No idea why it's not working.

Well the RF Adaptors are not that great for the sega genny they seem to fail more times then not and if been sitting rolled up in a ball I would have to run a conclusion that the RF adaptor is pooched.

Another idea would pulling the top of the genny shell off and looking at where the RF jack is on the mainboard and looking to see if its burnt in any spots this could be the issue as well.

alot of people would still say its a cleaning issue either the game or the system needs cleaning but if you have done that already have you tryed using rubbing alcohal on a q-tip and run it along the carts contacts?

I ushally have a modified genesis laying around with A/V cables to be used instead of the RF cables that is another method you could try to if you into soldering at all or feel safe doing it. let me tell you besides fixing the controller port issue on a dreamcast the genesis AV mod is the easyest out there to do if you need or would like more info on this as well let me know and I will help you out

Also what model genny do you have model 1, 2 or 3?

dont forget to rate this solution thanks eh!
