I just bouht a new Dell 530 with Vista and would like to install Studiom (plus) version 9. I keep getting, you must log on as a administrator message. What do I have to do to install this in my new computer? Ron Lindberg email: [email protected]

you can't reset bios. download the old version from DELL support.
Run cmd (as administrator, right mouse click and "run as administrator"), write cd Desktop (if u save here) and write bios name with /forceit (ex. N5010A07.exe /forceit)

Go to Start----Control Panel-----User setting -----and select Administrator Account and change name and reset password. To do these steps you need to log in through Administrator Account.

type the command sfc /scannow


it will check the curropted files and replace it

You must be using Vista or Windows 7 and also trying to insert the CD in the drive and initiating installation. Please try the following steps.

1. Check if you logging in as an administrator (if you have only one user account - forget it)
2. Insert the CD / DVD which has studio 9 and if any window automatically opens up close it.
3. Click on Start and click on Computer - then right click on the CD / DVD icon and click on explore, now you should be seeing a file named Setup / Install - Right click on the file and click on run as administrator and continue your installation process.

If you have another account on your laptop that has administrator rights, log in into that account and change the password for your account. If you have an administrator account (even if you don't try putting in Administrator and leave password field blank) try using that account to reset the password, otherwise try one of the following:

Only administrators are empowered to install new SW in Windows. That is why the SW if asking for admin rights with you.

try both versions of the OS (dual boot mode)
you logged in on the other OS

This problem is most likely related to a Windows Vista permissions issue. Because Vista has security features to prevent scumbag spammers and spyware from infesting your computer, programs will not automatically install themselves. I have had success by logging into Vista as an administrator, then installing whatever programs I wanted, then logging back in under my normal usage account. Sometimes simply being in the administrator account is not enough, but I hope this gets you in the right direction.

You don't say what the nature of the installation problem is, but you should make sure you are logged into your computer as an Administrator user. You could also try clicking the 'Browse this disc' button in the menu that appears when you insert the DVD-ROM, go into the Windows/Sibelius folder and right-click SibeliusEnglishInstaller.msi in order to choose 'Run as Administrator'.
